OK, so I was looking for a decent, lugged-steel roadbike. Nothing available new outside of custom or way-high end as far as I can tell. I resigned myself to getting something like a Soma lugged frame... for a split second until, duh, I remembered ebay. A few days later, I scored a nice 1990 Schwinn Paramount for a very fair price--top of the line bike outfitted with full Dura-Ace for about what I would have paid for frameset only on not as nice a frame. Score!
Now I'm trying to ID it. I've been to Waterford's Paramount ID page and am still confused by a couple digits. Serial number is 530BMW E90081, which plays out as follows:
530: Size, 53cm frame.
B: ??? Waterford says this might be the fork on a scale of A (aggressive, race) to E (relaxed, tour?).
M: ??? Waterford says this might be the model designation, but M is said to indicate a mountain frame. This most certainly isn't a mountain frame--it's a road frame without even any eyelets, "Sport" or "Race" frame at the very least.
W: Waterford manufacture (yay!).
E90: May 1990 mfg date.
081: 81st off the line in May.
Anyone know what the "B" and "M" stand for? (And don't get too funny, any of you in healthcare, I'm well aware of what BM *could* mean...)
