Off the shelf - disc wheelset?

Other than going custom, are there any off-the-shelf wheelsets that I can use on a disc brake equipped bike? (07 Poprad).

shimano - any 29" (700c = 29" = 622 ETRTO) disc wheel

Campagnolo - a little more difficult but not impossible if you either use a shimano cassette with a jtek shiftmate or can change the cassete body

Sorry I don't know much about 29ers. Are you saying that I can use a 29" wheelset on my 700c cross bike? Is it the same outer diameter?

yup - just ask to see any 29" wheelset or ask for 622 ETRTO (I'll go back and correct my original post :o )

by wheel diameter 700 = 29" = 622 ETRTO

So the marketplace for decent cross wheels with proper braking is openning up....finally.

no sorry, not from those (see my sig and see below for why)

I'm having the same whels built up again by Condor Cycles (dtswiss 240s disc, cxp33, campag cassette, 2.0 straight gauge 3cross spokes) - if you can get the LBS to build them up they're strong, stiff and work with campagnolo

I recently converted my 'cross bike to a front disc by changing out the fork, and I bought a prebuilt disc wheel at the LBS made by "Quality Wheelworks", which is, I believe, a division of QBP (the big distributor that most bike shops use). It was a machine-built wheel so it needed tensioning and stress-relieving, but otherwise used some good quality components (Salsa Delgado Cross 32h rim, Shimano XT hub with 6-bolt rotor mount, and DT 14/15 spokes w/brass nipples. Any shop that has a good selection of 29'er bikes might have something useable in stock, though if you have to special order it anyway, you might as well get it custom built, IMHO.

velomax sagitta's are 130 spaced disc wheels. i have some on my cross bike, but use them with rim brakes. they're 28 hole with a semi aero rim. they're decently light and the hubs are nice.

velomax is either made by easton, or they make some wheels for them; i can't remember which is which...

Lucky for you your Poprad is steel, so you can squeeze a 135 hub in the rear, right? Those of us with aluminum frames and 130 road spacing may not be so lucky. I have no experience myself, but I've heard it's a bad idea to try and put a 135 mountain bike hub in a bike spaced for 130 road hubs.

Sheldon warns against this:
