OK, since everybody's doing this: about 60 miles; one water bottle full of Fat Tire; two water bottles full of whatever that pissy stuff was; a gulp or two of Jack Daniels; a banana suit; a veggie tamal combo; a sweet lowrider bike model kit for some lucky rug rat; no fights, arrests, or fires; and a crap-ton of spoke cards.
i'm surprised about the absolute lack of police presence. it was nice, but i thought there's be at least some.

there was one cop car and an ambulance. and all they were doing was walking around. they weren't harassing people or giving out stupid tickets.

Good boy. ;) :p
I enjoyed the ride and festivities... what an impressive turnout! It was pretty cool to look back on the pack of hundreds of riders. I was in awe at how many people were there!
Good to meet all of you, finally! I had been wanting to join in on one of these rides for awhile now... figured it was no better time than to be able to ride, meet up with you guys and donate to a good cause at the same time. :)
tiffanie you should grace every midnight ridazz ride with your presence. roll up from hb with me on the next one and drink sparks with me and tyler. it makes you a hell of a lot faster.

Maybe it's because Enzo refers to himself in third person. "Hi, Enzo is happy to meet you and wishes you to leave with him now" probably isn't working for ya.
Not that Enzo isn't hot, mind you. ;):D

Wish I'd spotted this thread before heading to the toy ride myself. I still don't really know any socal riders very well, and I don't think I've ever met anyone from here......
Those Tamale's were freakin' great, though, as was the free fat tire ale. Riding uphill on a fixie with a belly full of beer, however, left quite a bit to be desired.

No you didn't. It was typical Midnight Ridazz. Nothing new. Nothing terribly exciting.
Good to go out and ride. Good time spent - but nothing great. Nothing new.
Good to get a few miles in, a few drinks, and watch some people who ride their bikes once a month act like high schoolers in the 'quad' during lunch break.
The best thing about it - or the only 'great' thing about it - was the donations given. That's about it. Everything else was very cliché Midnight Ridazz - which, merider1, you should do. Just because I'm calling it cliché doesn't mean it isn't good. It is good. That's why it's been around for years and continues to be popular!

I'm never riding a MR ride. I've stated it before and caused all sorts of fireworks on here, but I will state it again.
Riding a bike at night in a large group where people are drinking and riding their bikes next to me scares me. I'm not comfortable with it and I do not want to do it.
Sorry. I'm sure this will again incite the true roadie comments galore, but I'm not afraid to state my opinion. However, I do like seeing the pics of all you guys and I hope for safe rides for all MR participants. :)

You know, there are other fun group rides at night that do not involve drinking - and completely different types of crowds.
I respect your opinion, just don't lump all the night-time-social-group rides together in one package - I know of several other rides that would be offended by the association with Midnight Ridazz.
How can I convince you to come on a ride with me?:D

Well, in all fairness, the rides that have been discussed on here have been around drinking. Except for Alice's rides - but I don't think those were Midnight Ridazz.
As for night rides, I do ride at night and the only drinking that is involved is a beer afterwards. :)

Yes, I use to do a night ride, Alice. And it had anywhere from 3 - 15 participants. John's ride to Chantry often attracts 2 or 3. But you never know who is going to show up.

That's the ride I love to do, mister. ;) Yes, I'll put another Griffith Park ride on and I'll expect you to show up. We start at Pick Wick on Riverside, ride through the park, up Mt. Hollywood, to the Observatory and back down the other side. I miss that ride. It's short, but sweet. And that canyon is so nice at night.

I'm sure not. But everything I've read and seen involving Midnight Ridazz, that is the culture. Something that was miscontrued about my comments months ago is that I am not criticizing. Just because it isn't for me, doesn't mean I'm judging the folks who go. Nor do I assume that everyone is drunk and out of control. It's simply my personal comfort level.
But again, shots of cute boys from the rides are always nice to see. :D

It wasn't always that way; 3 years ago Midnight Ridazz was very beautiful. I stopped participating regularly on their rides more than a year ago, and have only been dragged onto them ever since (enticed by a friend of mine that I find attractive... I admit it - for me - that's the only reason to go on MR these days). Even with her suggestion of a riding partner, I've only participated in the rides twice this year.
Your comfort is a priority.

I have always had a great time on a Midnight Ridazz ride...(and you know...I'm a staight edge..right? I don't drink/smoke...) They are so popular for a reason. They are really fun. AND..they are VERY accessible to anyone...new riders, experienced riders, young riders, old riders...slow, fast, any kind of bike......unlike, Mary the PlanetU charity event you pointed out. Not everyone is able to ride a century, but almost anyone can ride 3 miles plus...for charity. And I'm not putting the PlanetU ride down at all. Or people who like riding centuries over other rides..I'm not. But these are charity rides, right? The more the merrier, no?
I respect your choice not to want to ride one. Nobody "should" ride any ride (or even ride at all  l) unless they want to...
I was sorry I missed it. But I got to do the CICLE Toy Ride from REI (no drinking on that one...unless it was secret he he) and hopefully I will be able to participate in other charity rides before the season is over...
if i wasn't drunk on midnight ridazz rides i don't think i could make it up some of the hills.
