Bicycle Mechanics - wheelbuilders that you'd recommend?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

About a year ago, I was looking to buy a set of Velocity wheels and was in contact with a wheelbuilder that was recommended to me here on the forum. I've since lost his contact info and would like to get in touch with him for a wheelbuild. Can anyone provide some advice for a reasonably priced $200-$300 + set of wheels? No deep aero...just a good set of Velocity or Mavic wheels. Seems like his hop was in florida, not sure though?

Thanks,

Tim

Joe Young and Peter White are a couple of the very best:

Think this is the guy you're looking for in Florida. Mike Garcia

Peter White -- and he builds with Velocity among other brands.

Wino, yep thats him....Mike Garcia. Thanks for the link as I couldn't find him otherwise. I ride about 2,000 miles a year....not competitive, just enjoy the excercise and training that cycling offers. Any suggestions on a better wheel than the Open Pro? Maybe Velocity Aero? I really just want to find a good & efficient, durable wheel for the country/chip seal/asphalt roads that I do my riding on.

All, Thanks for the feedback.
