Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Organizing posts into subcategories

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just wanted to put this forward; it's something I've noticed from the beginning, and over and over since then.

Some of the subforums, particularly the more active ones, could use some kind of organizing structure. They seem too amorphous sometimes.

The present structure (or lack of structure) could be kept, for those who like it, and for the sake of familiarity or continuity -- and the subcategories could be accessed with an option. (Or it could be left to the user to set the default mode, giving each individual the choice to display subcategories if they prefer that....)

By subcategories I mean, in the case of touring, for example, putting posts under headings or categories like camping equipment, food, stealth camping, touring frames and geometry, clothing, etc.

I would love to see something like this.

Often a person is particularly interested in a certain topic or subject; it would be great to see all posts pertaining to that subject organized together under one heading.

I am a newbie on this, but seems to me that I should be able to choose my region and topics for the RSS feeds and such, so I get the stuff I'm most interested in, not everything. With the daily volume on this, I'm sure I'm missing stuff I would like to read, but it's buried.
