Mountain Biking - Whoa.

Anyone have or seen one of these? How do they work? (I still can't believe my eyes.)

(If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at the front fork...or should I say "fork".)

The lefty shock...it works like a strut in a car. Really proprietary but a decent enough fork :)

I hate to say it, but that bike looks WAY TOO GAY.

I've seen the Lefty "fork" (strut?) put through quite a bit. I've also seen some look like they failed pretty spectacularly. I once saw someone walk into my LBS with one that was twisting about wildly... and not at the headtube. Obviously something bad happened internally. It probably made for rather interesting steering. :D

Wow, I hate to admit this, but I agree with KleinMpp. The color scheme on that bike is way too clean, too anticeptic. That bike needs some color!

As far as the Lefty goes, it's a decent enough fork/strut. I had one for a number of years and it held up very well, and I'm a big rider (250 lbs). Just like everything, if you treat it well, it'll hold up. However, it is still limited in it's travel. The new Lefty Max only gets 5" and it costs hella lot of money. There are better forks on the market!

Do you need more than 5" of travel on a bike that is basically designed for XC racing? Just curious.

True, but if you consider C'Dale offers the Gemini which has up to 6" of rear wheel travel, and I've heard rumors that their DH Gemini will have up to 8", you'd have to choose a different fork to get matched travel up front!

I quite like the color scheme... and im not gay lol.... Ive always wandered having a lefty fork..... I take it it only has one to descrease weight? But surely it weakens the front end becouse there's nothing holding the other side in place?
