Anyone interested?

This will be a social ride (my first time back on the bike since early September). Some attributes:

1. A nice climb (either OLH or KM);
2. 7:30 or 8:00 AM morning start; and
3. No drop.

This sounds interesting. I've never done OLH and would be interested. I've done some runs up Moody road and altamont. Hopefully this is a touch easier. I'm usually toast after the .5 miles up the moody ascent.

Can you post meet details (e.g. Start at Peet's in Los Altos)?

Thanks.

Can you do a trace of the route to be taken?

Use mapquest, Microsoft Street and Trips and do a copy paste so I could have an idea of what are you talking about and if thats too much to ask at least reference points.

If we end up doing OLH, I'm sure it would be some permutation of this route:

You can check out the elevation profile as well. I'm sure the start/stop point would differ.

Hi kb5ql,

I am hoping to meet at the corner of Arastradero and Foothill; since I don't expect a large turn-out, I am thinking of just waiting at the stop light of the intersection closest to Henry Gunn High. This is about 4 (?) miles north of Peet’s in Los Altos.

As to whether if this will be touch easier than Moody and Altamont, I can't really answer; I've never been up Altamont (of if I had, I am probably blocking that painful memory). I do remember going up on Moody's. I think OLH probably has less incline, but longer, if that helps. With that said, though, the overall theme is just a nice ride and getting back onto the bike, before rushing to do the Turkey day events.

Oh, and I just noticed your folder! That looks pretty awesome. I have a Brompton, but I don't think I can take it up OLH, or any meaningful climb. It would be interesting to see that folder in action!

Hi mazpr,

I did a Bikely map just this morning in response to your post. I am, however, having a rough time trying to post it here. So, if you don’t mind, can you check out bikely.com, and look up “Foothill/Arastradero to OLH and back”. Hopefully this would help? If not, please let me know. Thanks.

Jack

OLH is much longer (3.5 miles @ 7%), but less steep than Moody (0.5 mile @ 10%).

Ok, I just PM'ed the leader. Meet you there around 7:45 at either Gunn or corner of Foothill/Arastradero.

I did the Labor Day ride w/ Spingineer that was Mt. Eden/Pierce/Big Basin ... survived that hellish climb at ~ 7 miles/7%, so hopefully I'm up for this.

I will bring the folder as it goes down to 30 gear inches.
