Northeast - I'm in NYC for the week - any good shops to check out? (roadie)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello there,
Any recommendations from BF members for some great shops to check out while in town? I'm in the NYC area (all borough - staying in Brooklyn, working/meetings/visits in Manhattan mostly)
Road oriented - bicycle bling/porn of course. I'm keen on picking up a local jersey or something, or at the very least components (if the price is right...)
Fixed shops, as well - as I also ride fixed part of the time.
Thanks!
:D

Uh... er... no? ;)
I guess SBR if you like tri/TT stuff. Bicycle Renaissance has some real high-end stuff. Sid's in the 20s is pretty slick store but is mostly limited to the usual suspects (Specialized, Cannondale).
King Kog is a "track bike boutique," if you can imagine such a thing.

Cadence is fun for sheer ridiculousness http://www.cadencecycling.com/
NYCVelo, TrackStar, BicycleHabitat, Gotham & Toga all in Manhattan. R &A in Brooklyn.

Cool! I think I'll check out R&A and Cadence just for the bike porn alone... maybe even buy something.
Thanks guys.

Thanks again. I ended up stopping by Cadence on Wednesday before I headed into LongIsland. Will probably stop by R&A on Monday. Currently in WDC.
I even bought something at Cadence - Rapha arm warmers. Yeah, pricey - but I justified it by saving the costs of shipping from the UK. Plus I got to try them on. Swanky!

R&A usually has the largest selection of road bikes and frames. I've never seen anything like them anywhere. I bought my original Kuota there and they took pretty good care of me. I know a lot of people don't like them, but I guess if you have 2 customers and one is buying a multi-tool and the other is buying a custom bike, which one gets the attention?
I've never been to Cadence, although I've been to all the others mentioned. I didn't even know it was there. I'll be in Tribeca on Tuesday so maybe I'll check it out myself if I have time.
