Wow, I've never lived in that type of climate - I mean it certainly looks lovely on TV, from people's pics from vacations, etc - but that's a whole lot different from living everyday there.

You've always lived there?

Ok So I live in the caribbean

From this point forward, you cannot vent. You live in the caribbean! :D

Seriously, I'm feeling it also. It's been nothing but rainy/nasty/cold where I live for the past several days. I can do the cold, but the cold AND wet - ugh. :(

Brad the caribbean is great if you can be on a sailboat all day long and not pay for mantainance, free cold beer forever and some good company( the ones dressed in thongs preferably)!!!! It will be just like at the movies... but we all know its a myth.... still is a great place to spend a vacation dont get me wrong but to live here is a another story....

Is your island big enough for some decent riding or do you get stuck with the same 15 or so miles of coat road around the island?

Yah , PR is about 35 times 100 miles so there are many ok routes. Drivers are not really that friendly but while I train in more quiet places going out with the clubs is a lot of fun and they are really well organized. I'm including a link to the San Juan Cycling Club. They do go to the Paris Brest every year and organize many centuries metrics, doubles etc. In January they have a race around the island call the Lighthouse Cycling Tour. Never done it but it seems like a fun challenge.I will be doing the century in January 12.... heres the link....

January in PR is about the best weather you can get here, is mostly dry but cooler than summer... should you wanna come down and need tips let me know....

How would the terrain be for my wife to ride and how is the camping? She rides a recumbent trike, by the way......

I use to camp lots before coming to the island, camping grounds here are sparse. I use to camp in the mountains in the Sates and back home in Spain. Here is mostly beach camping..not my cup of tea...The coast is very flat, the center of the island has some good climbs as there is a mountain chain that splits the island in half right around the center running from east to west.... ck it in google earrth .... the center is not recumbent country...
