let's do it.

well.. not do it. but let's ride.

Let's not drag this thread down like the others.

Saturday at 12 is fine but that doesn't give us a lot of time to do 65 before dark. I'd like to stop and note the mileage for a route slip. Can either or both of you go Sunday?

jsigone
12-19-07, 03:08 PM
I really want to go to church on sunday since xmas is on Tuesday.
I'll know more by friday if we don't have to work on saturday. But I'm sure I will have to. If we go on Sat, what time is good, 10am? From my work since we're gonna do the full route in all it's glory

Grumpy Pig
12-19-07, 03:13 PM
11 would be fine. That will give us 6.5 hours of daylight for 65 miles. 12 will be OK if that's the earliest you can go.

Does anybody (besides me) have Monday off for Christmas Eve?

12-19-07, 03:38 PM
Will there be a Broom Wagon? Reason being, I've ridden 7 times in the last year and that was all last week.:D But I'd really like to come out and give it a go.

Mo'Phat
12-19-07, 03:40 PM
I don't think there's a broom wagon, but there are a few 'outs' and 'shortcuts home' that can be taken.

I can probably make the ride this Sat  - this gives me a good reason to wear an Arrogant B*stard bike jersey.

My WLA office is moving (starting on the 27th) :( so I probably can't make it to the main ride on the 29th.

I think I do, er, at least that's the plan. We're working all through the weekend.

Wishes it were earlier, but can probably make this one. I may bail at Lilac/Old 395 and cut it short.

Sucks that I'd miss Rice and Cloublster Canben roads though. ;)

12-19-07, 11:02 PM
What time can you get out Mo? If I have to work, maybe I can see if I can come in the afternoon rather then the morning so we can ride early and enjoy the day more rather then race the sunlight.

Mo'Phat
12-19-07, 11:04 PM
I'm a morning person...only because my kids are terrors at night. Might not be a problem, seeing as how I've got Mon and Tues off, but it is Christmas time, and ruffling feathers isn't an option. I'll discuss with the boss and let y'all know. Don't change the schedule for little old me.

jsigone
12-19-07, 11:12 PM
not that I WANT to work on my damn saturdays, not like I get paid for it or working on xmas eve (should be paid holiday) but thats our business. I'll just be looking forward to some days off next month. Few weekday rides up palomar will be nice. If the rest of the gang want to start at 7, I can prolly swing that since we should be done about noonish.

Grumpy, chuckles and greg, what works best for you all??????

Grumpy Pig
12-19-07, 11:17 PM
I can't go before 10 but don't change the schedule for me. I don't mind missing a climbing ride. I can ride or drive it later to get the route slip info.

jsigone
12-19-07, 11:29 PM
eehh, we'll just keep it at 11, so I don't have to talk to my boss about it. Plus it will be warmer and dont' have to layer up as much

Depends, is that Jeff's work address?

If so, then...

No Mt. Murder within two minutes of starting? Where can I stash your purse?

Kidding...and you conveniently added 10 miles. Yay.

OC Roadie
12-20-07, 04:32 PM
no, don't do that. i think it'll be mostly a fun ride, but you know how it is on EVERY ride. there are times when someone takes off on a climb, so the next guy has to take off after him.

i think in this case we'll mostly be picking up the scraps that ben leaves for us on the hills.

I ran into Pico this morning after finishing up some hill repeats. I mentioned this ride to him. I'm still waiting to see if I can sneak away for this one.

revised route doesn't go up murder, BUT does go up the new San Elijo/Twin Oaks hill, but you have a good 8 miles to warm up to it with the rollers on Harmony Grove:D

6 more miles but only 300ft more in gain, so NOT bad

So, I'll be in Jeff's work parking lot at 11 am for the Stone Preview w/o any Stone at the End Ride today.

I won't be doing the whole route...family has plans for me tonight, so can't go that many hours.

I'll be with the group 'til Lilac and Old 395, then come back via Champagne and Centre City. Bummer that I'll have to miss Creamdear Cannon road.

I guess it'll be about 45 miles.

See y'all then.

Thanks to Jeff, Jason, Gregg and Paul for coming to the Stone Prelude. We rode the course, discussed some changes to the route and had a good time. Today's route was a little over 70 miles with about 6,000 vertical feet. With a rest stop and regroups, it took us almost 6 hours to finish. Next week's ride will be 6 miles shorter.

I will have a route slip posted by, hopefully, December 26.

fun day out there, weather was cold in a few places but otherwise NICE. My legs are feeling it too.
We went to Killer Pizza From Mars for dinner, sounds a bit better then the carls jr. BBQ chicken and meat lovers hit the spot. Made for some good recovery food:D

I had a Jumbo Jack, 2 tacos, onion rings and a chocolate shake w/ whipped cream and a cherry. It was pretty tasty.

The Stone Lite version is veeeerrrrrrrryyyyyyy tempting! :DThe regular ride is a very scenic route. I drove it early this morning and it was beautiful.

Of course, I was in my truck drinking coffee with the heater on and listening to a cd. It didn't look as nice last Sunday when I was gasping for breath and my nose was dripping.

Chucklehead
12-24-07, 04:37 PM
at one point, on one of the climbs(i think it was crooker), i thought a big string of slobber dropped from my mouth, but when i wiped my face i found that it was actually snot.

Ok Grumpy, I have the day off so I'm officially in, regardless of how off shpae I may be. Damn the past few weeks of being busy and stuffed with evil goodies the office staff and clients feed us.
