Foo - Another one of Siu's mooshy threads

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your
Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

I'm thankful that after a year of outsourcing and layoffs where my wife works that she's still there and things look good for the future. My wife has been there 26 years, lacks a little in the confidence department, is shy and quiet, and it would be really traumatic for her to have to find another job. It's also a job that would be hard to replace as far as pay and benefits.

We are truly thankful.

Siu, keep up the mooshy threads!

Here's a song title: Be Thankful For What You Got by William De Vaughn (1974)

Lyrics:

Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antennas in the back
You may not have a car at all
But remember brothers and sisters
You can still stand tall

Just be thankful for what you've got
Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antennas in the back

You may not have a car at all
But remember brothers and sisters
You can still stand tall
Just be thankful for what you've got

Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh

Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antennas in the back
You may not have a car at all
But remember brothers and sisters
You can still stand tall

Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh

[Instrumental Interlude]

Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh

I'm thankful for soooo many things every single day of my life.

I'm thankful for the doctor that saved my brother's life when nobody knew what was going on with him.
I'm thankful for my family that is solid as a rock.
I'm thankful for the ring on my finger, which is a representation of what is important and special to me.
I'm thankful for my friends who have shared so many good/bad times with me and are very much an important part of my life.
I'm thankful for my sense of survival that has gotten me to where I am today.
I'm thankful for my job, for I can put food in my tummy.
and.........
I'm thankful for my health, for I am here today to post this.

I am thankful to be healthy enough to ride.

I am thankful that I've found a sport I can do the rest of my life.

I am thankful that my life could be longer because I ride.

I am thankful for all the great friends I have made through cycling.

I am thankful for all the wonderful places my bike has taken me.

I am thankful that my sport requires me to buy so many cool toys.

I am thankful that cycling happens to be good for the planet.

I am thankful for all you cool foosters.

I am thankful for surviving another year of distracted drivers, potholed streets and clueless pedestrians.

I am thankful that I can eat as much as I want on Thanksgiving, knowing that I'll ride it off soon enough.

I am thankful for all the cycling advocates who fight for our rights.

I am thankful for the small amount of mechanical aptitude cycling has forced me to acquire.

I am thankful for the flat tire I'm bound to have tomorrow, which will turn my 2-hour ride into a 3-hour escape and get me home just in time for turkey.

My two, beautiful, God-sent, daughters. I love them so much.

Because Destani, 12, is so smart and funny and quirky. She knows how to crack me up sometimes. And she's one of the best cheerleaders in the world.

Because Lilah, 8, is so innocent and has the most beautiful singing voices I've ever heard. Plus, no matter where we go her little hand has to find mine. It makes me melt.

I'm thankful for my friends and family...

waking up every day
being lucky enough to have seen and done some pretty amazing things in my 38 years
that I rediscovered the joy of cycling a few years back
having multiple bikes...but not enough room where I live to put them LOL
for all the Foosters and Bike Forums folks who have made the last few years around here so interesting.
that despite how many things have gone wrong this year... I'm still better off than a lot of people and have a lot to be glad about.

Heard this on the radio this morning. Makes you really think:

I am thankful...

.. for the taxes that I pay, because it means that I
am employed .

.. for the mess to clean after a party, because it
means that I have been surrounded by friends.

.. for the clothes that fit a little too snug,
because it means I have enough to eat.

.. for my shadow that watches me work, because it
means I am out in the sunshine.

.. for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need
cleaning, and gutters that need fixing, because it
means I have a home.

.. for all the complaining I hear about the
Government, because it means we have freedom of speech.

.. for the parking spot I find at the far end of the
parking lot, because it means I am capable of
walking, and that I have been blessed with
transportation.

.. for my huge heating bill, because it means I am
warm.

.. for the lady behind me in church that sings off
key, because it means that I can hear.

.. for the pile of laundry and ironing, because it
means I have clothes to wear.

.. for weariness and aching muscles at the end of the
day, because it means I have been capable of working
hard and using those limbs.

.. for the alarm that goes off in the early morning,
because it means that I am alive.

And finally

.... for too much e-mail, because it means I have
friends who are thinking of me and are trying to make
me smile even when they are out of touch..

::schmooch::

I'm really not one for holidays anymore, that went away some time ago and hasn't been replaced - although I look for it ...

but I must say, tonight when riding home in the coldish rain - riding slow and rather enjoying it - I discovered I felt good. Meaning, I felt good about myself and felt at peace. Things that have and are bothering me - well, they can take a day or weekend off, cause they are not in the front portion of the brain at the moment. I feel good.

So yesss, ::smoochie:: I haven't felt this calm and delightfully happy in a long time.

:)

Keep the Mooooooshies coming ::schmoochies::

I heard someone say this the other day (gee, do I sound like an old fart or what?). He said (and I'll paraphrase) that most people in life count DOWN from "100% happy". This is why he thinks people are so depressed. Because you're never going to be happy counting down from 100% happy!

He counts UP from 0%. He's happy. He may be me. :D

I have to say that I'm incredibly thankful for my grandmother (dad's mom), who has been a fixture of every Christmas that I can remember, even when we've been on the other side of the world. She's 101 now, and it looks like she might not make it to this Christmas. She's just an incredible woman.
