Hey-
I have some campy super record low flange hubs and ambrosio extra elite durex rims. The sidewalls of the rims are fairly scratched and the rear hub @ minimum need the bearings re-packed. My question is whether this would be a good opportunity to have the wheels re-built with the exitsting hubs or to buy a new wheelset all together. If it's a new set what would ya'll recommend for a 1980 oeugeot super competition that I'm trying to keep relatively vintage but also use as a regular riding bike (30+ miles per ride).

Once again,
thanks in advance.

Tear down the hubs. If the cones, races, and spoke holes are in good shape, I would simply buy new rims and DT or Wheelsmith spokes. Set up the rear axle spacers for 128mm O.L.D., add a nice 7-speed freewheel. and you are good to go.

What John e said except that I prefer Berg-Union double butted spokes if you can find them!
