I just wanted to check and see if anything had changed. When I used to work in bike shops I always found that Late Fall Early spring was the best time to get a new road bike. We always had good deals since we were trying to get rid of the old stock. Is this still true? Are there good deals online? I'm hoping my local LBS is looking to rid themselves of some of their old 2003's.:D

My LBS in Seattle (Gregg's) is selling all of their 2003 models for great prices. I almost picked up a 2003 Lemond Victoire for $2499 when it retails for $3099. Full Ultegra and Titanium frame. Wound up liking my Trek 5200 more. Some great deals to be had at all price levels right now.

This is true about Gregs, they didnt have the bike I just bought there on sale so I couldnt get the price difference..
I can say that there are a lot of shops around town that are having sales as they are all getting in '04 models.

So yess, it still looks to be true RunYun

The local Performance had 12 month 0 payment plus no tax over the weekend deal, all on top of their normal sale prices on the 2003 bikes. Some really great deals there. And the Chain Reaction store also had their 2003 bikes marked down quite a bit.

Now it is the best time.

Not much overstocks this year as companies got smart and didn't flood their warehouses with product. Soon new 2004 will come out and all the great deals will be gone/

I would normally say after the first of the year but I agree that now is the time. I've been to 3 shops and none of them have had anything in my size (58cm). There don't seem to be as many bikes around this year. Kind of weird....

The best time to buy is when you want a new one.

Oh, you're not just talking about that kind of ready.

I've been ready. It's just a matter of trying to get more for my money. You know that goes. If I had it my way I would get the best bike for nothing and I would have been riding it in June. :-)

Prices will go down, and so will the selection ....

I think I just got very lucky, and found a 2002 Orbea for £350 down from £475 about a month ago. I'd say a month or two before the shop gets the first of next year's models.

BTW, Teski and Gustaf, where is Gregg's? I have family in Seattle and visit every so often, but i've never heard of that shop.

Think I'm gonna get fitted and do some dealing.
