Ordered some 9.5 mm anti rotation washers - they came! They fit!

I are pleased.

Sadly the former, but also the HMW518 which is a bit thicker and has serrations.
I'd have preferred the 494, but I'll take the 518 over something I can't get.
Not also the apparent availability of 3, 5, and 8 spd hubs with drum brakes. This is good to see.

Thanks for the info.

I just ordered a pair of the 515's and a pair of the 518's.

Out of curiosity, should these be mounted with the tab toward the open side of the dropout, or toward the back?

Also, do I recall correctly that the washer goes outside of the dropout?

I would mount it with the tab towards the rear (more metal = stronger in my book) however if your chain is longer or shorter you may have to mount it where it has room to grab. They go on the out side...though I have found them on the inside before:rolleyes:

Here's what the 518's look like on my bike:

I did order the HMW494 washers from oldbiketrader.co.uk, and received them in fairly short order -- posted that on the other recent thread. Biketoolsetc is a good resource, though, and I've also bought parts (including the HMW518 washers) from them; they were very communicative, and shipped quickly.
