My office has relocated to a tower in downtown LA and I have been spending a lot of time just walking around and exploring the place.
One thing I am really enjoying is raping with the bike messengers that are in the streets like bands of gypsies. Some have absolutely beautiful bikes and some have rare gems in disguise. One thing they all have in common is a real appreciation for their rides and most talk about their pending upgrades like children before christmas.
Yesterday, on the way to my train, I stopped in my tracks to drool over a stunning matte black Bianchi with black hubs and rims and a fixed gear. The kid was as proud as a person could be and showed me all the features it had. Standing there like a geek in my tie and briefcase (alright, I've exposed myself) talking to this passionate kid made me feel not only old but part of the brotherhood cyclists.

Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
