Got some upgrade for her bike lately.....and wondering why i am buying these when her bike travel not more than 200km since its purchase~~:rolleyes:

1) Answer Carbon Handle Bar
2) Carbon bar end
3) KCNC V-brake
4) Jetsteam P8 handle post (3 inch shorter than the MUSL standard one)
5) Jetstream XP seat post
6) Jagwire cables all round

Currently the bike weights around 9kg (including everything you see in the picture), i hope to see it goes to the range of 8.5kg or lower~

Until i have some time to take it outside, please enjoy the indoor picture for now~

I beleive the time will come around April 08 when she officially becomes my other half~:p

The brakes are great in terms of look and performance, and the design is very nicely done with some smart idea on weight saving. :o

The KCNC brake are very ridgid and tight fit, they might feel sort of easy to break before the installation, but once everything hooked up, they are surprisingly rock solid! I specially admire the effort they put in during the design stage, tehre are some nice touches on the calipers to enhance the weight reduction over the normal V-brake we see in the market.

The brake pads are made of three different layer of plastic, but since its still new, the brake performance is yet to be determined. Perhaps when the first layer of the brake pad fade away, a more detail report can be provided~:o

Here in Hong Kong (China), some of the bike shop will strip down some bike models and sell them out bit by bit.

In my case, it was an original handlepost from a Jetstream P8 (just straight off from a new bike)...and i bought it for around US$60 (bargin!!)

I am only 5"6 (and my fiancee is only 5"1 -tiny) so the original handlepost just way too tall for both of us~:mad:

This is so far the best and most effective changes on her MUSL (for me at least), it makes the riding position so much better

I only have the shop name in Chinese (i am not sure if the shop has any English name).

But i do have their contact numbers: (852) 27775260 (i am not sure also if the shop keeper speak English or not)

The listed price of the KCNC brake at that shop is about US$410, but you can always bargin in Hong Kong, how much you can bargin depends on your skills i guess~~:o

The full set weighs only 245g (2 levers, 2 brakes), compared for example to Extralite (Italy) brakes at 260g for $682, or "normal" brakes like Shimano XTR's (which are awesome stoppers) at 590g for $330. The extra cost to cut 350g is worthwhile; though who needs logic if you just like them and want them on your bike!

Yes, i also compared those with Extralite...but the price is almost double the KCNC~ so in the end, i got this set of brakes~

By the way, the KCNC V-brake has two versions, the difference between the two version are as follow:
1) New version has an extra anodized red screw on the brake lever for travel adjustment (old version does not come with that)
2) Brake pad material are of three different color (Old version brake pad is pure black)

The shop that i mentioned b4 should be selling all the new version of the brakeset, but just watch out when you go there~

Now all you need are Tune cranks and you'll be down to 17 pounds. Did you actually save any weight with those bars? I worry about carbon on a folder since they get banged around a fair amount.

I often leave mine at coat check counters. Who knows what happens to the bike after that.
