Finally. FINALLY!!! After eight weeks sidelined with a broken wrist and elbow I finally got clearance to ride again. Went for an easy twenty miles yesterday. Legs felt surprisingly good considering they've spent the past two months feeling sorry for themselves while reading everyone else's ride reports. Of course I planned to take it easy, but prolly went too hard out of the gate, I was pretty tired by the end.
I had been anticipating this ride for weeks, but the coolest thing about it was something I hadn't even considered. When I stopped riding we were still in the dog days of summer, I never saw the seasons change while on the bike. It sounds corny, I know. But yesterday it was like suddenly being thrust into Autumn, and I remembered how much I love riding during this time of year. The cool air, the need for arm warmers, and the light is so amazing in the late afternoon, like the entire world around you has been filmed in 50's Technicolor. What an awesome day. Much to be thankful for.
