First off, Happy Thanksgiving, 2007, everyone. I wish all of you a safe holiday with your friends and/or loved ones.
In the last few months, I've been in a sour mood. With work and personal "glitches," being stressed and at times depressed (i.e. sad sack), I think I've lost a little of my insight into how fortunate I truly am. I found out yesterday that I need to go into the office tomorrow and got all bent out of shape. So, today, after reading Vertical Bob's post and him commenting that "we have a lot to be thankful for," I'd like to list a few things:
1. My health - I cannot believe how lucky I am to be able to ride my bike and enjoy moving around of free will in general. And I rarely get ill, so I don't suffer flues and colds as often as most. I cannot belive my good fortune as it must be awful to have to struggle with a physical ailment on a daily basis as some in this world must do.
2. My ability to take care of myself. I have a wonderful, warm roof over my head and great neighbors. It's an apartment, sure, but I don't pay outrageous rent, it's very cute and I have french doors (something I, in particular, enjoy). There are many in this world who have nowhere to live or live in crowded, less than desirable conditions, so I am very fortunate.
3. I have interesting, intelligent, kind, loving and living parents, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins and a grandmother whom I adore. I'm so lucky that I get to call my mother today and she'll say, "Oh, I knew it was you..." There are so many who don't have their loved ones. :(
4. I have an eclectic group of generous, quirky, intelligent, kind, exuberant friends. And I mean, real friends, who will be there for me (and I for them) when truly in need. I don't keep "fair weather" friends for long, don't need 'em, and I cherish the genuine ones I have (even if I neglect them from time to time, something I should work on).
5. I have many wonderful acquaintances who may turn into real friends, because of course, I also have opportunity in all things possible. Opportunity is something I should always take advantage of as I am fortunate to live in the country I'm in as a woman so as not to suffer some of the horrible fates the women do in many other areas of the world. For this, I am very thankful.
6. Last but not least, I'm thankful for Patsy. Yes, my bike. Some people can't afford a bike nor do they have a father who will give them one of their birthdays. I'm very fortunate for my little powder blue, WSD Trek 1500. So, don't nobody put her down, or you'll be thankful you keep your teeth. :p:D
Anyone else thankful? Want to list a thing or two (or you can get all mushy and list a bunch like I did). Better yet, go enjoy your day! I'm off on Patsy to work up an appetite for the wonderful meal I'll get today and for which I will be thankful! :)
