How do you make your porridge and what do you put into it for extra taste?
Me, I mix regular oats with Red River (wheat, rye and flax). Touch of brown sugar with raisins added in for extra goodness. Ya baby!

OK, it's too late for this mornings porridge meal suggestions ... had to go with my old standby. I guess everyone's out and about shopping. Still interested in your recipes though.
Well, I micro the Quaker Oats oatmeal and add a banana and some skim milk. I also put on a teaspoon of cinnamon as well.

Tomorrow's porridge will include banana and cinnamon. Sounds tasty.
Apples! It's all about the apples.

quaker old fashioned oatmeal (.5c uncooked) with golden raisens, add water to cover, micro for 2.5min. remove, add honey, cinnamon, smart balance butter, chopped walnuts, and maybe .25c 1%milk. sometimes i will add blueberries instead of raisens and make it .75c uncooked. very good on chilly mornings.
Porridge? As in Goldilocks and the Three Bears? :p

Chocolate and nuts.
I mix my oats with ground flax seed (do myself) and luv to smash an overripe banananananan into it. Other than that - I like them plain - no milk or sugar.

I microwave Quaker oats, then add brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, raisins, and a little milk. I also like to add sliced almonds if I have them.
I prefer just plain porridge, but it's too hot for porridge here.:)
My recipe is simple: rolled oats, water and salt. bring to the boil on the stove while stirring all the time. When it has boiled and got as thick as you like remove from heat and serve with a sprinkling of brown sugar, milk, and if I'm feeling really decadent, cream.
BTW I prefer my porridge thin rather than a very thick.

Google porridgle and click the Wikipedia. Its got the international answer for porridge. For Chinese families in the US., they take the turkey carcass and use that to flavor the rice porridge. Then they mix in the other things to add more flavor.

Man, those are some serious ingredients. Never tried it with walnuts or honey. Will have to give that a try. I also have never tried putting blueberries into my hot cereals. Sounds tasty. Not sure if I agree with using the microwave though. I'm a bit of a purist who believes you have to be stirring it constantly for 5 minutes, otherwise it's just not the same.

Yeah, porridge is reserved for those cold winter mornings. We just happened to have one of those this morning.

I like it with flax as well. Can't imagine porridge without milk and sugar though. Yuk!

Ha, just teasing. The cooking on the stove and stirring is just nostalgic for me. It's the way I've always had it since I was a kid. I'm sure that microwaved oatmeal tastes almost as good ;)

When making porridge in a microwave, I find that adding apples or bananas keeps the stuff from boiling over, without having to stop it.
But yes, recepies...
1. Apple
2. Banana
3. Cinnamon
4. Fresh cranberries
A combination of any of the above! Yay oatmeal!! :)
