Hey guys! I've got a situation here that I need to find a solution for ASAP! I sent my bike frame out to get painted and I got it back last Monday. I've never disassembled/assembled a bicycle before and I really don't want to pay a shop to do it for me. I figured this was a great opportunity for me really learn about my bike and get that hands-on experience that I'm missing. Unfortunately none of my buddies really ride, so I have no one to help. If anyone on here has some free time and wouldn't mind helping out a "newb" that would be great. I'd be more than willing to compensate one of you for helping me do this than just paying a guy at a shop to do it for me.

Thanks,

Chris

FYI -- I'm located in Half Moon Bay, so those of you in deep SJ or North Bay need not apply, the drive is just too far!

parktool.com has complete instructions on assembling a bike.

Seems to me if you want to pay someone to do it for you, then you're better of paying a good shop than paying a stranger.

You should take a bike maintenance class. You get hands on experience and learn to do things properly. Some shops offer classes. Call around.

I've assembled and disassembled most of my bikes. I've done most everything except rear wheel building (no dishing tool), facing BB shells (again no tool), work on Campy drivetrains (no Campy tools), and rebuild shocks and forks.

I have some time while I'm recovering from an injury so if you want to come to San Bruno, I can show you how to put your bike back together as well as an LBS. PM me if you're interested.
