Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Where do y'all buy your cartridge bearings?

I am need of new cartridge bearings ever since I rode my old ones into the ground. They are seized, disintegrated, toast - of no more use to me. I have found out that finding the correct sized replacements is not such an easy endeavour. All of the LBS in the fairfax county area have none of the size I need in stock, which kind of sucks becz I need them right away. Anyhow I am headed back home tomorrow - back to the 'big city' and am wondering what my chances of finding them there are. The serial number of the bearings are 5902RS, the outer race measures 25mm, the inner; 17mm and they are 5mm in width - they fit the LeVel components hub. So.. what do you all do when your hubs whine and bind? Do you just wait for the week to 16 business days that it takes to order these specialty parts, or what?

we actually have a place here that stocks nothing but bearings that has
saved my tail on countless occasions back in my motorcycle days

call phil wood, they can get the bearings they use in their own hubs (which are awesome) in different sizes. they should be pretty cheap as well.

There are all bearings, all the time stores as someone mentioned above, check the phone book.

Also, you can revive cartridge bearings by prying out the seal with something sharp, flushing the crap out of them with kerosene/paint thinner/WD40, and then regreasing. You probably still want to replace them if they got really gritty, but this could get you back on the road.

+1. You'll be surprised how well this works.

a bearing shop... is this really necessary? are you ********? this is like asking people where they get their groceries.... a grocery shop.

local boca/alpine or other bearing warehouse will have the goods. or order online. philwood.com for the best bearings.

Otherwise any local bearing outfit should be able to help you out. 6902 bearings aren't uncommon.

Go to an LBS and order Enduro bearings from the QBP catalog. My LBS owner told me that Phil spec bearings are simply ABEC 5 Enduro bearings.

Bearing shop in the yellow pages. Bring one with you, theyll have what you want.

yep, what he said... for anyone who's in the Boston area who ever happens to look at this there is (or was anyway) a shop called Action Bearing on Brighton Ave in Allston that has the cartridge bearings a person desires.
