Hi, I'm new to the forum, but not new to riding. I am looking for the commeraderie I used to have with my old cycling friends. I run, so I'm not too out of shape, but haven't ridden consistently for years.
I might be slow in the beginning, but I'm sure I can catch up (eventually! haha) If anyone is interested in taking the time, or if any of you know someone thats just starting up again, please let me know and I'll start dusting off the cobwebs!
thanks!

Welcome, Jleg. :) Yes, location would be nice and a little more description. Are you a guy/girl? When you say you are looking for someone to ride with, exactly what type of rides are you thinking of? 25 miles? 50 miles? Climbing, flat, mix? I ask so that anyone on here who may be of the same level as you will know what you expect in a riding partner or group. Also, if you are in the San Fernando Valley, you should check out the SFVBC (SF Valley Bike Club). They have many rides of different levels that you could join on to get back up to speed.

Awesome!
Our club has a recovery ride on Sundays which meets at the Huntington Beach Pier at 8am. You're more than welcome to join! It's a no drop ride, and is a great place to start.
If the Sunday ride proves to be too easy for you, up next is the Saturday ride. We always have a long, and short ride, of which you would also be very welcome

jleg8:) I am a female, I used to ride centuries YEARS ago with my two best girlfriends. We rode the Solvang Century about 4 times, and several other sponsored centuries in orange county. One of my favorite old rides was thru the canyon (El Toro road, and the other was from Lag. Nig. down to the Base in Oceanside.) I rode approximately 35 to 100 miles at a time 3 - 4 times a week. I would now consider myself a beginner...my bike is in NOW an antique...a "Spectrum" , custom built titanium bicycle by Tom Kellogg. with classic Dura Ace components. (still way beyond my capabilities). :D

I also used to ride with my brother, "1955" also a member of this forum.

I think it's December 15th. You can do it. It isn't hilly. If anything, maybe you'd like to come out for 25 miles of it? There will be route slips, so you can turn back if need be. Or come to the burrito eating afterwards and meet all of us! :)

Hey Dave!

The Sunday ride leaves the Pier at 8, heads South on PCH, turns up at Back Bay, from the top of BB heads by UCI to the Turtle Rock Loop, and back.
The Saturday ride changes every week :)

The route on Tue Thurs are race pace through the Newport Coast area. I wish I could say the route exactly but I dont like getting up that early :p

It starts at HB pier and then goes south on PCH, up Newport Coast, (this is where I get foggy), and back on PCH for a sprint back to HB.

Worst case scenario is that you get dropped and you have a solo ride back. Its a beautiful area, especially descending down San Jaquin so I think it would be worth it regardless.

I went on their "Sunday recovery ride". They are a great bunch, its a no drop ride, so that was good.
we rode approx. 40 miles. It was my first real ride in years. i don't know what your level
is, but they were a pretty stong group, and they have sat. rides that are more challenging. you
are welcome to go to their web site which gives you the route slips. ocvelo.com.
I will be there next sunday trying to get back to riding stronger!

Do yourself a favor and remove the "leg" from your name. You wouldn't want anyone to think that your dated Ovoleg or even worse, related to him..

She had never even been on this site before I told her to come here and ask the local talent (the women) if they wanted to ride. I really thought she's be safe here seeing how she'd my sister. Luckily Ovo lives 60 miles from here and never goes more than 5 miles from his parents house and is always in before the street lights are on.:D

So anyway, she picked her handle for various reasons and had no clue who the commie was.
