Yah.
My ghost had this thing for water. He even followed me from my apt to my house. I wasn't afraid of him though.
So "you" are haunted. That happens I am told. Sometimes it is places or things that are haunted, Sometimes it is people. What thing for water? Do faucets get opened?
I had an old girlfriend stalk me for about a year until I moved out of state. That was real creepy and I Imagined it felt about the same as having a bad ghost around:o

Faucets get turned on, yes.
I understand that if a spirit latches onto you, it's because it likes you. It means no harm, it just wants to be with you. Be a part of you. I likes your life energy. Your energy reminds them of what life they were living.
Poltergeists are the spirits of the dead who don't really know or understand that they have died. They stay here on Earth in the "middle ground" between heaven and hell. They try to continue on living and doing their normal day to day things that they did when they were participating in active lives. At some point they realize this and move on.
TAKE NOTE that this is what I was told when inquiring about this. I was very confused until I figured it out. This helped me to accept him and not be afraid.
My room mate had a ghost in the house he lived in before and I think it followed him to our apartment. After a while, I was the only one experiencing his antics. When I moved, those antics continued on in the house I bought and my room mate had no problems with him after I left.
Yes, most definitely. Have had some very different dreams ---, but I was wide awake for this ... and this was NOT a dream --- my grandfather.
He bought a piece of land in PA - along Slate creek and started a cabin - which his son (my uncle) completed it after my grandfather died - btw - this land was something my grandfather loved. And over the years, a lot of the family has stayed in the cabin. So several years ago - I'm down there - just my mother and I - and we stay in one room - in a bunk bed no less). Mom is sleeping (snoring actually) and I have my little bedroom light on and am awake and doing crossword puzzles in bed ... and for some reason my eyes are drawn to the window --- and it "opened" and in crawled my grandfather - in a white short sleeved t-shirt - looking much like his pics when he was in the Navy --- he got in thru the window - turned and shut it - never looked at us and walked straight across the room to the door, opened it and walked thru - shutting it on the way out.
I sat for several minutes, rather stunned, but unafraid - and then got up and looked at Mom and called her name - she was asleep - in fact snoring lightly. So I then opened up our bedroom door and looked out into the abandoned and dimmed country kitchen. Nothing. And nothing the next night or until we left either.
Odd. I wasn't thinking about my grandfather or anything - in fact if anything I rather wished to go home the next day cause I was bored out of my tree ...
My grandmother always believed in ghosts and ET's and other things. My mother saw different happenings in her mother's house as well.
Total believer here!
we had a ghost that liked to play with the TV and radio. and made noises one night like moving furniture. wierd. never saw anything, but heard plenty. the other night *something* was holding onto my foot and it woke me up.

My Mom heard our old dog after she was put to sleep -- heard her walk thru the hallways a couple of evenings. I heard my little old dog the night she was put to sleep. Woke up to hearing her walk around and shake her head (flap her ears). Only heard her that night. And then she was gone. :(

I felt my best canine friend jump on the bed at nites for a while after he went to heaven. I looked up and reached for him.........
I think he stopped coming around after I finally accepted that he was really gone. :(

My little best friend of 16 plus years only came to me that same night as she was put to sleep. I can't tell you how many evenings afterwards I lay awake listening for her, and in deep anticipation too. But she had passed on ...

Whenever someone in my family dies, we all experience strange things. That also goes for people we are otherwise close to.

If you realise intelligence was basically an accident it's easier to understand.
We have a nervous system that doesn't work at all like a machine. Our emotions and problems go in and surface in odd ways, playing tricks on us.

Yes. I've seen/been in the presence of ghosts.
And as far as dead spirits visting...I hope I get to see my four greyhounds in the afterlife. I miss them more than any person that's been in my life that I've lost. I know it sounds strange, but it's true.

Yes....quite a few times when I was younger. Long stories....but most revolved around a family that lived next door to us. There two sons were me and my brother's best friends. Later when their mom went a little wacko (Baker acted), they ended up living with us as "foster sons" for a few years.
Anyway...."something" followed that family and I saw a number of really odd (sometimes scary) things when around that family.
A few years ago the younger son found me online and contacted me. We talked on the phone one night and I asked him if they still had that "whatever it was" following them. He got silent for a second and said, "yes....but we don't/won't talk about it because it gets worse if we do".
cycle17, I hear ya... I miss all the animals that have been a part of my life... we just lost one of the world's sweetest horses last week. I'll never get to hear his little whinny every time I go into the barn now. :(

I have felt other presences (not often mind you), but I've never actually seen one with my eyes. I've heard a few sounds that I haven't been able to explain (again, not often).

I haven't SEEN one, but like I said, only experienced them.
KT: I'm guessing their ghost wasn't a friendly one, eh? What did you experience when they lived with you?

No. The wife thought she saw the footprints of a cat I had just executed move across our water bed. We wrote that one off as a really vivid dream.

KT: I'm guessing their ghost wasn't a friendly one, eh? What did you experience when they lived with you?Things mysteriously falling off the table/shelves ALL THE TIME when they were in the room. That was just the tip of the iceberg....not really sure I want to discuss it here though. I'll talk to ya on phone or yahoo if you are really interested.

I went to a Jesuit high school in the late eighties in Los Angeles, CA. At that time, they had a retreat house as part of their Novitiate just south of Santa Barbara. The grounds included a mansion where the Lindbergh family went in to seclusion following the kidnapping (http://www.charleslindbergh.com/kidnap/index.asp) and subsequent murder of the baby.
It was said that the retreat house was haunted by the ghost of Charles Augustus Lindbergh, Jr. attempting to find his parents. During my brief stay in the mansion house my Junior year, several guys had reported that they had heard the bowling alley being used just after midnight. Of course we all went to investigate. I heard the pins being knocked down enroute. When we got there, the light were off, the pins were up and there was NO WAY someone reset it that quickly. Other guys reported finding cold spots in parts of the house.
A couple of weeks ago, I had an alumni lunch and the president of the school, a Jesuit, overheard us talking story and very seriously he told us that yes, the house was haunted. He relayed pretty much the same stories we had heard about noises, the bowling alley being used, cold spots in the house...the usual.
I truly believe that something was going on in the house. I had heard that once, a student on overnight retreat refused to sleep in the mansion and was given a private room in the dorms...he just would not go in the mansion. But that was a story I had heard but never got confirmed.
The property was eventually sold off several years after I had graduated.

I've never experienced anything like a ghost but I've known a lot of people who swear that they have.
One time when I was lecturing on William James's "Varieties of Religious Experience," the chapter having to do with the power of the "unseen." I told my class that they could substitute their weekly reaction paper with a personal account of an experience that seemed supernatural in some way. Most people wrote about some other aspect of James' philosophy or they wrote about their conversion experiences.
A few wrote about their contact with the spirit world in vivid detail.
Some years ago we cast a circle and opened a portal if you will. we invited all spirits who meant us no harm to visit us. At times it gets to be like grand central station here with all the traffic thru here. We have both human & animal spirits as well as those of all our past rats are hanging aroung.
The first time it was a bit freaky, now it's rather common place. Just recently I've started seeing shades.

The only ghosts I ever saw was when I lived in my grandparents town. We use to go to the cementery the nights after someone was buried. If there had not been a long vigil and the moon was right you could see the ghost rising to heaven... it was really spookie..... actually, it has an explanation. The body releases certain gases as it starts putrifying and as they are released to the atmosphere sometimes you can see them (although very rarely).

Every night I go to my friend's house, if the sun is down, there's one wandering her street.

In VT we lived in a historical property from 1890.
The founder of the town built it. I lived in PA for a while
to tie up some loose ends before I joined my Wife there.
She said every day at about 5:00 the smell of Chocolate
Chip cookies would waft through the house. When I got there,
the locks on the workshop/basement doors would always change
from whatever way I left them.
oh, yeah, I forgot about the four-footed ghosts. Soooo many times I feel them come up onto the bed, you dog owners know what that feels like... and I look and there's nothing there that I can see. once I saw the butt of a dog go through the dog door and I looked around and all our *living* dogs were present and accounted for.
I have a minister friend who has seen an angel while lecturing to a bunch of soldiers. He said two others saw it also, but no one else.
My brother housed his dogs in a building in NYC somewhere on 72nd Street. My brother is a rather practical and level headed fellow. The building has been empty for lenghty periods of time. The dogs would always bark and howl at something unseen. My brother said he and his buddies used to get a very creepy feeling in the building.
One of his friends who thought the situation funny offered to go with my brother. He was pushed and slapped by something unseen and started to cry and ran from the building. My brother and other friends saw apparitions of some sort. One of the appartions came up through the floor and caused my brother and his friends to run from the building.
My brother is 6'7" and 280 lbs and is not one to run from anything. He gets very unnevrved when he tells the story. I am told people unconciously walk as far from the front door of this building as possible when passing. When my brother checked with a medium he was told to get his dogs out of the building as it was a portal and very negative things were coming through.
