A stationary target? Methinks a few hours at the range, sighting in, would have prevented this.

I can't see the video. I am on dial up for two weeks. Too impaient to wait. I assume a lousy shot from the responses. / I think we are much too judgemental. Just because some don't like shooting or hunting, does not mean they have expectations of taking your hunting rights away. / But, we do get concerned that some hunters might be drunk or poor shots. Example. When I once lived in Grand Rapids, my roommate coming back from Detroit. Traveling on the I- 96 near Lowell; He had the back windows shot out of his VW bug. Guess, he was lucky it was not the front windows. He happened to be a hunter himself. Guess, that experienced did not turn him away from hunting. / But, when does a VW Bug's look like a Deer? Maybe after a Colt 45.
Low accuracy, but good precision. If he used a sight, it likely wasn't calibrated properly.
This is why deer should be able to shoot back.

I don't know...they were all off in the same direction, but there was at least a foot or two of separation between each shot. Assuming he was in a stand similar to the one down the road, that deer couldn't have been more than 75 yards away. 1+ foot groupings at less than 75 yards says buck fever.
The video caption says it's a whitetail, but looking at the body shape and antler spread, I'd say it's a mule deer.

Maybe a foot or two on the ground, but the angle between the trajectory and the ground was quite low, so the error on a perpendicular target could've been only a few inches. I'm pretty sure that a slightly lower aim would've placed any of the shots right on the deer.

Maybe... but part of knowing how to shoot is correcting... If I missed the first shot, there's no WAY I'd have missed the second. And the third??? :boggle:

Classic flinch response with too much finger on the trigger. He didn't correct because he never saw where the first two bullets struck... his eyes were closed.

Yup. Bet you're right.

Fair enough. But with a correct sight, the first shot would probably have hit, considering he grouped the shots relatively well.
The most amazing part of the video is that the animal doesn't run away until after the third shot!
