Man that's short. I'd love it though. All out sprint almost. I start suffering real bad at about 10 minutes in no matter how long anything is.
Sprint is correct. I took my HR to Z5 and just kept it there the whole ride. No need to look at speed, just cadence and HR. The lungs were clear this AM!

i'm all ready to go to excel this morning, all fueled up, mapquest printed out; but i'm going to continue my 'next time' tradition.
Problem is I need another 2 hours of sleep atleast. I'll get a good 1 hour workout on the trainer and then head up to Ray's.

Your slothfulness kept you from experiencing a high speed cadence spin-up that topped out at 160 rpm's for 30 seconds. Your getting way behind and dropping down to my league.
You in for tomorrow's ride? Gary may be coming.

I am planning on it. I got halfway through my trainer "route" today and said f'ck it. I need to go out tomorrow and be punished for not HTFU today and being a wuss.

Careful with that. I used to go by HR - at least for my upper limits/threshold. Based on that I was in the 172-175 range. Then I started ignoring it and I found I could TT regularly at 178 with no issues.
Power on the other hand....;)

I agree, indoors is different than outdoors as far my threshold goes. Last year I was assuming that my max HR was 170 and assumed my Z 5a rate was 153. I am 56 yrs old and have a projected MHR of 164. I would frequently go above that and even would ride at the high 150's in fast group rides and races. This year I am training, much better and smarter, and have seen a HR of 172 at the end of a trainer interval. My guess is that my max is closer to 175 or higher. So in the TT last week I took my HR right to the low 160's right out of the box and kept it there the whole race. I'll probably start the same next time, get the rhythm going with 160/163, push the hill more and once over the top at 2 miles, build over the last mile until .25 then take it into "it don't matter zone".
I wish I had "power", but that is not gonna happen in the near future.

'Cause you ain't going nowhere
You just ride along, ride along, ride along
1/28, 1 hour, Gov't Mule - The Deep End, Vol. 2
1/29, 1 hour, Spinervals 1.0, No Slackers
1/31, 1 hour, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Night Moves, Jonny Lang - Lie To Me
Edit:
25 hours for the month, had only one ride outdoors (new years day).
Hopefully February brings less snow.
44 miles this week on the trainer.... did the 50 minute Spinerval DVD "Sweating Buckets" today.
I'm so tired of the snow I'm thinking about packing up the bike and driving to Florida for a week.... wife wants to fly but, hey, I said, it's time together in the car. All the time thinking, hehehehe, I'll have my bike.
Quick question. I just got a Cycleops fluid off of craigslist to replace a very loud wind trainer. There is an increase of resistance at 5 minutes in. Is that common? I assume it has something to do with the fluid heating up.

nice work, but hours is what counts on the trainer. as a roadie you are not allowed to track trainer efforts in miles. it is the law. :thumb: later.

1 hour lipolysis early early this AM on the trainer. It surprised me that riding in HR zone3 puts me just under 20mph with a 90 cadence..

In a way, yes. It's a specific fat bruning workout done first thing in the AM and before you eat anything. You have to keep it in Z3 and not exceed 1 hr. You have to eat as soon a possible once done.
60 minutes yesterday on the main rig. got her back from Psi all pretty and ready to roll. damn snow!! later.

Just getting started again this year, coming off a major period of sloth and gluttony. 40 minutes on teh trainer. Basically I followed Dirk Friel's indoor E1.
10 minutes in Z1 @ 80 rpm
5 minutes alternating 30 s seated, 30 s standing high load
5 minutes spinning upper Z1
6 intervals, 2 minutes @70 rpm Z2, 3 minutes Z1 between intervals.
5 minutes Z1 spinning
That was hard! I need to get back on the stick!
68 minutes with coach troy. took me a while to shake off last night, but it felt good. real good. later.

Last night I did 1 hr on the rollers in Z-2 @ 105 cadence. Making the experiance less enjoyable was the fact that my wife was on the eliptical at the same time and had to watch the Bachelor at full volume to overcome my wheel noise.
Today at 5:30 AM did 1 hr Lipolysis @ Z-3 on the trainer. I must be getting fitter, as I averaged 20.1 mph for the hour, and barely hit low Z-4 a couple times when I was out of the saddle for 1 minute repeats every 5 minutes.

I read that as you got beat by a tri-guy in heat. That would be interesting.
I know what you mean about tri-guys though. About 1/2 of the guys who beat me in cat 4 were triathletes. It's crazy sick.

It was at this point, when you and the Fred (wearing pro kit) to your left sat up that I was truely relieved I did not enter this thing. I missed all the bad (indoor time trial pain) and got all the good (pizza) that day. 'Twas a good day.
On a completely related note, I'm going to get a new iPod shuffle for the pain this evening. Ugh.

On a related note the executioner is not coming by for class tonight. He's sick. Says he's disappointed he's going to miss it. I left my ipod at home. No idea what's going to end up on the tunes. My guess is some laid back music. Perfect for threshold work.

Nah....
I am sick again and won’t make it to the ride tonight. You should do 45 minutes at LT. A guy that I coach in Texas finished that phase 1-1/2 weeks ago and just had the best result of his life. It sucks, but really effective. I wish I could join you for that
I replied that he must be really heart broken about this.
