Where's my new, second-hand stuff already? Got the highest bid with less than 20 seconds on the auction. Paid straight away and now there's no reply from the seller.

<Stamps foot, pouts, sulks> I want my stuff now!

Anyway, on a less childish note, I should have 2 wheeled transport again some time this weekend.

It's not the bike that got stolen but it's a good facsimile.

Finally, so it's not just about me being childish, any funny e-bay/craigs list/swap meet stories?

Umm, when you buy online you have to wait for the item to be shipped. It isn't an immediate transaction, like you have with brick and mortar purchases.

I know how you feel. I was starting to get really upset with an eBay seller that he hadn't sent the item, cowhorn handlebars. But I was strong, and patient, and let it ride. You see, I live in a remote location and only get to the postal agency once a week.

I went there yesterday, fully expecting to have to give a serve to the seller and Australia Post for a lost parcel. I picked up three other packages and as the postal agency guy went through the mail in the "B" box, he found another card notification for me. "Oh, there's another package in there... must have been there for a while because it's right at the bottom".

Grrrr! All's sweet with the eBay seller... not quite so with the postal agency. But they're a friendly lot, as country people are...

I think he might have been having a bit of fun... winning auctions can be like he said, sometimes.

yup

Mailmen "losing" cards - had a blockbuster phone call once. Three months after returning a dvd they were threatening debt collectors. I got a little pissed at the BB guy and he eventually found said dvd next to their returns box. Sheesh  :) .

Hmmmm......I guess my only concern with e-bay would be sellers that don't respond to questions. I'm finding that most US sellers are american-centric*, in that they indicate that they will only ship to US. This means an e-mail has to be sent to ask if the seller will ship to Canada. Not an issue, but when the seller doesn't respond to your e-mail, it's kind of frustrating.(Especially considering that my bidding max is about double the current bid.)

* not meant in any derogatory way at all, just an observation.

I waited for a month one time.Paid 500.00 immediately with my credit card too.
I never did get any response and wanted my money back NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

I called the CC company and had them cancel the transaction.
THEN the part showed up.It was the part but not in the shape mentioned.

Sent it back and got a full refund from my CC company.

Lots of people misrepresent things hoping to bring a higher dollar amount.
If the auction says mint, it better DAMNED WELL BE MINT!!

Mint is a top notch example with no damage, not a used up but functional thing.

One reason I hadn't received a reply

When using multiple e-mail addresses check that the one with no replies is actually linked to the e-bay account.

It turns out the seller replied within a few minutes on the correct e-mail account, i.e., not the one I was checking.

Wow, I feel so clever at times :o :)
