anybody use one of these yet?

I do.
It's large and heavy. My back wheel weighs over ten pounds.
It is also the smoothest hub I've ever ridden, and maybe the most robust.
Perfectly quiet, there is no click-clack when you coast. Just roll the shifter and the hub responds.
An electric build is a great application for the NuVinci hub.

Nicely done, Allen!
I ordered one of these hubs last Summer to fit onto my Xtracycle, with the intention of doing a Stokemonkey build - not so easy. The owner's manual states that the NuVinci hub is "not approved for vertical dropouts" however, there was ZERO indication of this in the sales/tech papers.
The folks at NuVinci sent a newly devised Vertical Drop Out kit.
The plate included with this kit that should locate the right side axle and attach to the dérailleur hanger, does not fit (my Xtra is one of the first production models).
There is no provision for mounting a chain tensioner, but they claim another kit will be released/available in February 2008.
So, how did you do that?
I recognize two parts of the VDO kit on the left side, and the Rohloff DH chain tensioner (got one on order), but what's going on under the selector mechanism on the right side?
Harvey,
Gotta admit when I had the LBS lace the hub I went ahead and had them do the entire install. I did bring in the chain tensioner with the hub, but that was because with the previous hub (a SA-8) I had enough chain bounce that the chain would slip the cog and caused problems.
I'll shoot some close-ups of both sides in the morning and post them tomorrow.
