Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I plan on attending... I was wondering if it would be faster driving up PCH or going up 405 to 101 to Las Virgenes? Also, anyone from San Diego wanna carpool?

Hi Happy,

Do you need another volunteer? I would be glad to help anyway I can. I've been under the weather and don't think I have the strength right now for this ride, but I can help sag, pass out refreshments, anything. Just tell me what you need done.

That hour of the morning, go straight up PCH.

The 101 is way out of your way. I-10 to the PCH no matter the time or day. If there's traffic along PCH, there's traffic on the 405/101 also.

I'm up for a carpool. Where in the city are you? I'm in Scripps Ranch.

PCH has stoplights... the 405 does not.

Take the 405.

Hi,

I think a little clarity is called for here. ;)

From San Diego, take the 5 north to the 405 north.

Stay on the 405 north past LAX, then get on the 10 west.

The 10 west ends at PCH. Take PCH north to the Malibu courthouse.

Did that help? :D

Yes, it's very close, just down the road. It's actually the same staging area as the Grand Tour Lite (September ride).

Thanks roadfix,

I haven't ridden the Grand Tour Lite for about seven or eight years, but I think I remember . . .

Is the route absolutely set as described on the first page of this thread? Starting in Malibu and heading up Latigo and down Mulholland, then up Old Topanga?

If so, I'll likely meet up with the group somewhere on Latigo or Mulholland.

I'm a wimp - and it's way too cold in the morning to ride over for the 8:15 start (and I rarely, if ever, put my road bike in the car for local riding).

Why don't you meet us at the corner of Mulholland and Kanan, that way you can climb Rock Store and warm up, or at Sierra Creek market.

Everything anyone needs to know is on page 1 of this thread. :)"Everything?" Not even close. Here are some of the questions still unanswered:

Can fat people go skinny dipping?
Why is the word "abbreviation" so long?
What's another word for thesaurus?
When companies ship Styrofoam, what do they pack it in?
When it rains, why don't sheep shrink?
What do you do when a endangered animal eats endangered plants?
If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?
When sign makers go on strike, is anything written on their signs?
Why isn't there mouse flavored cat food?
Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?
If a turtle does not have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
Why do they sterilize the needles for lethal injections?
Is it true cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

And of course...

Does plagiarizing other people's old jokes constitute crossing the picket lines during a writers strike?

ClanLee
01-09-08, 03:52 PM
I'm bored at work.. so I thought I might answer the questions... :p

Can fat people go skinny dipping? - Yes, but it's calling fatty dipping.
Why is the word "abbreviation" so long? - Irony
What's another word for thesaurus? - glossary, language reference book, lexicon, onomasticon, reference book, sourcebook, storehouse of words, terminology, treasury of words, vocabulary, word list
When companies ship Styrofoam, what do they pack it in? - Boxes
When it rains, why don't sheep shrink? - They do... but they puff out again.
What do you do when a endangered animal eats endangered plants? - Less endangered species.
If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation? - Yes.
When sign makers go on strike, is anything written on their signs? - Kinda like the writers going on strike... sometimes they write something on the signs... sometimes they don't.
Why isn't there mouse flavored cat food? - How you know that it doesn't taste like mouse... could be like chicken.
Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them? - To keep the smell in.
If a turtle does not have a shell, is he homeless or naked? - Deshelled.
Why do they sterilize the needles for lethal injections? - To keep them from catching inmate cooties.
Is it true cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny? - No, that's an urban myth.

THANK YOU!!!!!

Big thanks to Ronjon and Luwin for their generous contributions. I'm sorry you can't ride with us, but I hope you can join up afterwards!

Along with his check, Luwin has thoughtfully sent us a stack of $20 OFF gift certificates for dinner at McCormick & Schmick's Restaurant. First 60 riders at the start gets one! :D

Yes, yes it does :D :D :D

I'm still working on it so no pics yet, maybe a pic tomorrow if I can finish my cabling + bar wrap. This is how I bought it: 1987 Miyata 512. (http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/4058/39397006ne7.jpg)

It's since gotten a replacement stem, rack, cranks, brakes, pedals, and a full overhaul of all bearings. I'm totally in love with it and I'm excited about riding it Saturday.
