The new dock and finder look great but the reviews on the install (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?rs=mostUseful&productLearnMore=MB021Z/A&revw=MB021Z/A) give me pause. Kudos to Apple for having the confidence and posting those.

I am. And I really do enjoy it. It's not drastically different. But the small features are mostly handy. I like the new way of viewing documents as I can scroll through my teachers' powerpoints w/out opening them. Spaces is also fun to use, and handy at times. But then again, five of us went in on the family pack, so it was less than $40 a person. In addition, I like how easy it is to now use Mail. Now I have both my school and "work" accounts configured so it's really easy to read/send mail. But overall, it depends on how bad you want it.

I'm currently using Tigger, it works great, but bounces a bit much.

A Tigger's a wonderful thing.

We have Leopard on 5 networked machines in my home office for a couple of weeks. No problems. It even ran good on a 5+ year old G4 tower (since retired from active service). All the other Macs running 10.5 are Intel, one G5 tower (my machine, hopefully to be replaced within a few months).

I'm running it too. I have no basis to compare to though because it's my first experience with a Mac. What does everyone think the best new feature is? I was a little disappointed because I couldn't get my Yahoo email to work in the mail program. That convinced me to get a Gmail account with a normal name. No more SuperGr8ManSlut@yahoo.com (SuperGr8ManSlut@yahoo.come) for me.

I really like Linux boxes, software is keeping me using OS X.

it's o.k. (installed it the day it came out). but just o.k.

love the speed boost (Core2 Duo MBP) and Boot Camp, otherwise it's a bit meh.

the latest update seems to have cleared up my AirPort issues, too.

Video editing?

Image and sound too, and I have a cad suite I use somewhat regularly, plus hardware (film scanners and such) that finding drivers for would be difficult.
Not that I could not find Linux apps to replace what I use, but I don't really care to learn new software.

I was once a leopard supporter (http://www.hcsb.k12.fl.us/hhs/Athletics/index.htm), if that counts for anything.

Not until I get a new comp. I like how iMovie works now, anyway. No rush for me.

Home of the lavender leopards? Only in Fla (Jab coming from someone where the purple hurricanes are the mascot of our hometown team, 300 miles from the closest ocean).

Yeah, I can see that. The open source stuff just isn't quite up to speed yet from what I hear. Although it's more than enough for someone like me and free to boot. I'm hoping that some of these projects come together in the next few years so that we can all save a few bucks.

Just installed it. Insert disk, click start, easy peasy.
The new dock is cool, but what is really cool is the new finder. The sidebar has a shared category; not only can it see my folks' computer (sitting in their living room stealing their wireless), it sees Mother's memory card from her camera, sitting in the reader connected to her computer (full of grandma pictures, thanksgiving table, grandkids, the floor).

Box is noticeably snappier now too.

Did quite a few installations the past week. Upgrading from previous versions carries over too many incompatible settings. Best to do a clean install and wipe out the previous OS. Luckily, not many applications store their dependencies in the OS folders, so no need to re-install programs. So far, things looks pretty nice. Seems to be more optimized for the Intel Macs than the previous G4/G5 models.

I did an in-place upgrade and had woes out the wazoo.

I then did a format/install and it worked well, but there are still a few bizarre issues. For one, my keyboard stops responding on occasion. Another problem is that it broke a TON of X11 software I use. Fortunately, I found an unofficial xdarwin fix for that. Also, a lot of other stuff I liked still hasn't had all the kinks worked out for Leopard. Like Fink and Audacity.

I think its a woe with *any* OS. Upgrading/migrating leaves cruft that at best takes up space, at worst may cause conflicts. My policy when upgrading an OS is to back the machine up, format, reinstall OS, apps, and data, as opposed to a migration.

I personally like the new iChat how you can share your screen and the other person can remotely use your computer. I also love Doc Preview which allows you to highlight a document/song/file and tap spacebar, brining up a preview of it with out have to open say word/itune/photoshop.

My sister is and loves it. Moved all her business machines over to it as well. Had a small issue when upgrading, but decided on everything else to just do a clean install and it went great.

File management on Leopard kinda blows. I do a lot of it. Still getting used to it. A few software packages I have aren't 100% compatible, awaiting upgrades. A few networking issues, printer driver issue with HP Color Laser. A bigger pain in the ass than I expected from Apple, but considering our heavy use (5 machines, small office network, professional use all day long) nothing too crazy. A couple of calls to Apple and HP tech support, some hair pulling, but it works. Not your typical Windows nightmare. I've had those too.

I don't dual boot, but I've heard it turns linux boxes into bricks.

Can someone explain to me why the graphics is supposed to make the OS better? To me it makes it seem like it's harder to find things. For example, when you have the screen that backs out to a cube of different desktops, is that like running 20 browsers and having 5 on each different side of the cube? Whats the deal? Are any of those fancy graphics useful?

Yeah, the cube is very useful. The rest is eye candy.

It's great but there are two bugs that annoy me.

One is with Spaces, when you switch between applications the last window you left on the top isn't the one on top when you come back. Kinda annoying with web browsing.

The other is with iChat. It seems to sometimes just launch itself when my internet connection goes out and comes back on. And I mean it's completely closed and it will open up.

Other then that, I like it. People have complained its slow but I haven't noticed any slight drag from the last version. Spaces is great since I use a MacBook and can really makes use of screen real estate now. The new find feature in Safari is neat. I like the downloads in the dock vs my desktop. The Time Machine feature sounds good, but haven't used it yet.
