"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - New Office furniture / Training aid

Picked out some new office furniture last week to aid me in getting out of the office more and in the fresh air. So my "lunch hour", weather permitting, will be a ride to one of the local delis and a quick cruise to burn those same calories off. :)

This should conservatively add an extra 50+ miles per week to my training schedule.

id suggest new art.

I'd say bring your lunch, go for a real training ride, then eat at your desk. Pocket the $5/day saved for some new art ;)

I like the art that's there

pretty sweet. I'd love to have one of those sitting in my office too. Would be quite handy for coffee runs or errands.

Are those the SKS raceblade fenders? How well do they protect?

I would suggest some straps for your pants, or perhaps a chain guard. When I used to do this (In seattle in the rain) I just had waterproof pants and jacket to keep me dry/grease free. Have fun with it...Oh, yeah, and put a trainer on the back of that thing. No reason you can't spin while surfing the net!

I'd put some regular brake levers on and bar tape up to the tops of the bars. The set up doesn't make sense as it is. It is taped only on the drops, as if that is where all your riding will occur, but the brake levers are on the tops. Also, regular brake levers will give you an on the hoods hand position.

While you are at it, you can get some marbled bar-tape to match your wife's paintings.

I had originally attached a paint color with my post for your walls so that it would blend in with her art, but I deleted it.. I figured that was noone of my business.. but maybe you could suggest to her to pick one for you :)

I approve. I just got a Silver Langster from '06. It's perty. The guy I got it from had some DA track cranks, so I sanded the surface and now it matches the brushed look of the bike. It's pretty sweet!

HEY! I resemble that remark.

If you're going to be doing road training, get some regular brake levers (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=600069&subcategory=60001014&brand=&sku=14029&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Road%20Brakes) and tape your bars fully. Mount a set of mud flaps (http://www.buddyflaps.com/plain.htm) to your fenders. They make a pretty noticeable difference to the amount of crud coming off the road.

Ride, rinse, repeat.
