This place has reached a new low...mods editing thread titles, inserting post content in order to ridicule certain members and participating in flame wars. Absolutely ridiculous behavior and lame beyond lame. Actually, lameness so lame that words cannot describe its indescribable lameness.

Where have you been? A&S has been pretty much at Rock bottom for awhile. Nowhere to go but up.

John Bender: Ah... but to dorks like him, they are. What do you guys do in foo?
Brian Johnson: Well, in foo we... we talk about farts, used beds.
John Bender: So it's sorta social, demented and sad, but social. Right?

Personally, I like riding on the left of the road, so I can see traffic coming, that way I don't need a helmet. And I can listen to my mp3 player, and run lights on my Walmart bike, getting me there faster. I just feel safer.

Then you really are desperate. I guess your answer does confirm that Lecterman is a mod. Well in that case I volunteer I-Like-to-Bike as your next mod. With the 2 of them you can close A&S down in a week and save some bandwidth.

Ok, not that desperate. But the mods generally vote on new mods, based on posting habits and quality. I don't choose them myself, to avoid conflicts, but I have nominated a few, and let the mods decide. Once they agree, I flip the switch on the blue stars.

It requires a rare combination to be a moderator. You have to have enough wisdom to know when to ban and when not, when to kill and thread and when not, when to allow a certain amount of give and take and when not.

And you have to be fool enough to accept the job.

Yeah, my first move would be to close down the posts from a certain smart donkey Texan who makes gratuitious and smarmy personal remarks.

Just to show how ignorant Texans are, I didn't even know that Adam was a proverb. Shoot, I thought he was an allegory. How dumb can one person be? Oh well, live and learn.

As far as not knowing someone, we are known by our words and actions. I recall your treatment of the "Where are all of the kids on bikes?" thread and your subsequent creation of the "Waaaaah" thread in which you used to belittle Pete Fagerlin. Those new to A&S need not bother searching for the "Waah" thread because it has been eliminated.

Within the "Waaah" thread I agreed with your decision to close down the "kids on bikes" thread and I explained my reason for supporting you citing one post by Maddyfish and several by I-Like-To-Bike. I would have preferred you deleting the offending threads and let the thread live. I, like many, thought it to be a good thread. Perhaps mods can't do that, I don't know.

I didn't however support your senseless bantering with other forum members which only got worse on the "Waaah" thread. Now I'm not suggesting that Pete doesn't deserve to be slammed once in a while, but not be a mod. In my estimation when you accepted your position you should be a facilitator, not an aggravator, and I mean in all of your postings. If you want to argue banalities with other forum members then create another username, not one graced with a blue star. Check out the nature of Brian's posts in this thread and compare them to the brash nature of your own.

Now please do not take this personally. I have referred to your actions, not your intrinsic value as a human being. And I would have PMed you, but considering your alleged treatment of PMs it might possibly have resulted in my expulsion. Best of everything to you and thanks for clarifying the proverb thing.

Houston, we have a problem.

For the record, Pete started that thread to complain about Lecterman. It was a weak attempt at insulting him, and certainly not appropriate. Closing it too soon (it was a thread complaining about closed threads) would not have helped matters. I'd say most of us held back in our posts a bit, all things considered.

For the record, the forum admin has had bad days, and done much worse. We're all only human.

Houston

For the record, Pete started that thread to complain about Lecterman.

The "Waaaaah" thread was difficult for me to follow and it seemed like Lecterman started it. Yes I realize that it was attributed to Pete, but I thought with Mod powers you guys could lift a posting from another thread (in this case a posting by Pete), and assign authorship to a new thread to the author of the lifted posting (in this case Pete). I was wrong in that assumption. It just didn't make any sense. Not having that thread around is no loss as it just exacerbated a ridiculous argument. Thanks for the clarification.

Houston, we can do a lot of things, but that doesn't mean we do. As it gets cold, and people get stuck indoors, the forums will be a bit less friendly. We look forward to spring.

Having been a moderator, I concur. It also helps if you are gullible and believe in the fringe benefits.
