My name is Barry. I'm 56 years old and an Aerospace Engineer at the AFB. My wife actually found your site, but it was I who boldly responded to a post!
I am actually an upright rider (riding a Softride Roadwing) who wants to become a bent rider also. I have a Barcroft Virginia GT (which I inherited from my wife only because it was too long for her and her weight distribution was too far forward.) We just bought her a new 2003 Lightning Phantom that fits her better.
I actually only started riding the Barcroft a couple of days ago, and I know I have a long road ahead to develop those bent legs. I went for a 12 mile ride tonight and was really disappointed that I could only do 7-8 mph up a hill. I hope that will get better.
My wife's bike was just purchased on Saturday and she really hasn't had a chance to try it out yet.
My plans are to convert the Barcroft handlebars riser stem to a Terracycle riser and Rans handlebar. I'll be working with Bill Cook at Barcroft to get the right parts to make this conversion. I would like to get the new mesh seat or Garrie Hill CF seat as soon a Bill Cook offers it as an accessory.
I'm a little intimidated riding with our club members, because I know right now I will be pulling up the rear on any ride. But there are a few recumbent riders in the group and maybe I can fit in.
that's about it for now.
