Hi Everyone
I'm building up an old mountain bike this winter (solid fork) to use for touring and the front fender mount wasn't in a good position to use for a rack mount. I brazed a new steel tab on to the front of the dropouts and then drilled & taped for a 5mm screw as this was the size on my old road bike and the existing fender mount.
When I started setting up the rear racks I found the mounts were 6mm instead of 5. Can someone tell me if the front mounts on touring bikes are normally 6mm or 5? I'm thinking I'll re-tap it for 6 for the strength and curious about what is normally used. My old steel road tourer had 5mm front and back.
