So I know the Planet Ultra X-Mas Century is on this date, but I wanted to do something more local, that didn't take the whole day. So I'm leading a local ride, starting from Alhambra Park (in Alhambra), that will go through some of the hills around the Rose Bowl.
Where: Alhambra Park (meet at corner of Marengo/Palm and Alhambra Rd.) http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=Alhambra+Park&near=Alhambra,+Ca&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=34.724817,71.015625&ie=UTF8&ei=WZZMR42oJqHuiwOv2ZD_BA&cd=1&cid=34097544,-118146613,10375885543294527027&li=lmd&z=14&t=m
When: 12/8/2007, 8 am
Distance: 37.2 miles
Elevation Gain: ~ 2600 feet

Altadena might still be closed for construction.

It is. The sign says through 11/30 but we all know how construction time works. The detour isn't that bad, however, and goes through a nice neighborhood.
I might be in on this one, as a century is not in my plans for the rest of the year. I might even ride to the start to get a few more miles.

I prefer going through on Mendocino anyway, I usually only take Altadena if I'm planning on climbing Lake to the top. Hmmm, I haven't climbed Lake in a while, maybe I should do that tonight?

John,
What construction are they doing there anyways? It's been closed for about 3 months now.

I think they're putting more holes in it, there was a couple places that were semi smooth.

Great ... I was thinking of Loma Alta, but that would still take us to the construction area ... doh!

As far as I know it's all been East of Lake, just go a street or two past and drop down to Mendocino or New York.

Yes it's about a block east of Lake. It drops down into a posh area and then back up a couple miles down the road.

So this seems really similar to the bagel ride, with the only difference being a few more hills. Anyways, is anyone in for this? Otherwise, maybe I'll just ride with Montrose. Or, if it rains through Saturday, it may already make my mind up for me.
