Foo - Singer's name?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just heard a clip from a singer who's name I don't know.
She start a song by recording short clips and looping them as her backup vocals.
Her popular song is the "Train song" (or something like that).
Anyone know who I'm talking about?
Many thanks,

I think I've seen that video before (or one like it), but I don't recall her name either.
Good luck. It's frustrating trying to find something without having enough specific information with which to perform an effective search.

Nope not Feist.
Her voice is less Bjork like.

Nope not Feist.
Her clip is currently being used in a PBS promo.
I saw her on Austin City Limits many moons ago, the looping thing is her gimmick.
She started doing it when she was street performing.

Maybe Imogen Heap? www.imogenheap.co.uk is her website. She's had one or two tunes that have been used in movie and tv soundtracks. The tune "Hide and Seek" is the one I've heard used a few times. Great tune. It's a capella, but sounds like it's one person doing all the voice parts on separate tracks, like you described.
On a completely unrelated note, is that Shostakovich in your avatar? He's one of my favorite composers.
Ah, Imogen Heap is the one I'm thinking of, at least.

Close but no, not Imogen Heap.
Yes that is Dimitri as my avatar. One of my favorites as well, but I use that avatar because it favors me quite closely.
Defiantly not Pink.
It could have also been The Gap Band (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTo7BXlqcHs) you're thinking about...

damn it!! I knew her too....one of my new favorites. I didn't realize she did the recorded track back over herself like you were talking about though.
They play her a lot on the radio station here I listen to the most.

AllenG, I'll be happy to slap him....but I'll hold him to let you get the first shot. Consider it my late birthday gift.

Just let me put an orange in a tube sock and I'll swap out with you before it gets all soggy.

Ah yes. Good one. She's not too bad to look at, either.
I remembered seeing Joseph Arthur do something similar a few years back, but instead of vocals he looped little motives he played on guitar to create the layers. Same kind of thing though. Here's a link to the performance I saw:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Letfvx_VBvo
