I don't. I do have a silk hood for cold weather (maybe -15C and below), but it doesn't really cover face.

I use a combination for balaclavas (three different ones with various thicknesses), neck gaiters, and one of those ventilated face masks just for the middle part of the face. The balaclavas work so well because of their versatility.

pSolar heat-exchanger face mask (www.psolar.com). Besides helping with cold-induced asthma by heating up the incoming air, it also provides a mechanism for getting the moisture out without soaking the face mask. You do have to blow the water out of the heat exchanger every so often, as it accumulates. Previously, I found that in really cold weather, the various face masks that I tried would get so wet that they were colder than just wearing nothing.

I use a silk balaclava from 25to 35F, a heavy synthetic from 15 to 25F and a a neoprene half face mask on top of the balaclava any time 15F or colder. I also wear 180 ear grips any time its below 45F.

I have two. A Craft model that is nice, but fairly light and an R1 by Patagonia that is heavy but well vented. In either case I wouldn't think of running one without a helmet cover. Together you get good moisture transfer where you really need it without a breezy chill.

Be warned: Covering your nose will almost certainly fog (and ice over) your glasses when wearing these things.

I wear one MEC balaclava to about -15C. Colder than that, I either add one of those fleece tube things over my mouth and nose, or use a second MEC balaclava ninja-style so that only my eyes show.

What about the Masks that the Paintball guys use. Goggles and full face coverage.

I tend to prefer not wearing a mask in general, but at certain temps you have little choice. I have noticed that once you start to get to around 10F or below you realy need to cover your face to protect it from possible frost bite. I realy like the PSolar mask I have. It has a special breath heat retaining feature that allows your body to inhale prewarmed air. It also seems to retain some moisture. My lungs are much happier breathing in air that is not single digits cold. I don't have any lung problems, but at those low temps breathing hard can feel like you are trying to freeze your lungs from the inside out.

Picked up 2 at Target that are fleece with a square of stretch mesh for the mouth. Really good quality and terrific breathing through the mesh..$9.95 each..I've tried several and this one is really good..

I have a balaclava that I wear down to about 0 to -5F. Below that I wear a birdbeak over the balaclava.

I also have a hole cut in front of my mouth on my balaclava in order to breathe. This helps to not fog my ski goggles.

I wear a Seirus neoprene and fleece mask that covers my neck and up to the lower half of my ears. It's nicely lined with fleece too, so it's always comfortable against the face. It's just a little too large to wear by itself, since it's stretched a bit over the years, so I usually make sure the top part of the back is held in the rear of my helmet.

The one I have is probably most like the 2705 in the Seirus catalog (http://www.seirus.com/catalog/catalog.pdf) on page 26.

I've never found a balaclava that works right for me, but the mask is great. It pays to get in the habit of breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth to keep from fogging my glasses or goggles.

+1 I use this when the temps drop below 15F. This mask works great... infinitely better than a stanrad neoprene mask I've owned in the past. This past week I've needed it three times. It was 4F and 7F the last two mornings, and the one afternoon is had not heated up much either so I realy needed the mask. I was also heading into a stiff breeze in the morning so I had to worry about the wind-chill with exposed skin on my face.

I use a Carhartt hat/bacalava. Only about $15 and when it isn't that cold out the face/neck gator part of it tucks up underneath the cap. I do work outside all winter and this is all I wear at work since I got it. It also works well with my helmet just by removing the velcro pads inside.

I use bandanas, neoprene facemasks and I have an old paintball mask. It's just goggles with a protective plate hanging down. Paintballs have gone up in power so coverage is much greater on new models.

My Mountain Hardwear windstopper balaclava is worth its weight in gold. I bought it several years ago for around $20. Holes in the nose and mouth to prevent fogging of glasses/goggles. Cover it with a stocking hat for forehead coverage, a helmet for protection, and I'm good to go.

I love my target Balaclava. But it is just to warm until less than 10F, maybe 15F if there is a good wind. Otherwise I have a light weight balaclava from REI. I need it more to keep my ears warm than anything. The combination of full coverage and my warm breath keeps my ears nice and toasty.
