General Cycling Discussion - Bike rack suppliers?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A few local business owners that know me fairly well have been asking me for advice on where to get bike racks to put outside their businesses. I didn't have any problem finding several online suppliers through google, but i was wondering if anyone had any recommendations/warnings/etc?

The Saris racks are alright, but even there best racks are not made to last long term outside. In my city a local guy makes racks that probably 2 dozen or more businesses have, including the bike shop I work at. They are made of stainless steel, and are built to last. You may want to look into getting one made locally.

also, check with your local school - if they teach welding, they can either make some as a project, or the instructor can point you to some good welders who might take the job on.
The St. Louis Bicycle Federation recently had a contest to design a bike rack. The winning design had provisions for incorporating logos/advertising on the rack. Might be worth a look.
