Classic & Vintage - Classic Colnago

Hi, I'm from the road cycling forum but, I'm selling a bike for a friend, it's a colnago, it's purple, it's probably from the 80's. I have some pics, but don't know how to post them.
Also, I tried to locate the serial #, but couldn't find it, colnago is stamped into the frame at the bottom bracket, the dropouts and lots of other places, it's a really sweet bike.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

If it's in good condition it could be worth anywhere from $400-1500... all depends on model and components, for example if it has first generation c-record it's probably worth a lot. If it an outsourced bike with 105 then it's not worth much.

Similar lugs to the olympic master I just tuned. Not top of the line but I know little about late 80s, early 90s colnagos. The collector appeal is minimal as this really replicates the lug work of yesteryear (i.e. the colnago logos are cast into the lugs not hand cut). I would say $400 is a reasonable price to expect for the frame, only because it's a colnago. Most of us on this forum would not pay that much however. Your market is someone who wants to ride it, not a collector. Try your local craigslist before resorting to ebay. SOmeone should jump on it pretty quick just because of the name.

This really isn't from my Colnago knowledge era, but let's take a crack at it.
First of all, I'm wondering if it's been repainted. If so, we don't know if the fork and/or lugs may originally have been chrome. We also don't know for sure, in that case, if the Columbus SL decal reflects the tubing accurately.
It looks to be made with unshaped tubes, which narrows things down considerably. I would gess that if it's a repaint, it might be a Superissimo, and the lugs and Precisa fork may originally have been chrome.
Perhaps more likely, and assuming the SL decal is correct regardless of whether or not it's a repaint, it's some variant of Super. I suspect the Super would have been the only frame in the lineup still made with SL and unshaped tubes when that frame was produced - probably early 90's, give or take. There was I believe a Colnago model circa early 90's dubbed the "Super Piu" which had unshaped SL tubing like your frame. Maybe 1992-95 or so. "Piu" in this case - as with the better-known "Master Piu" - translates roughly as "Plus." Perhaps the Super Piu or Super "Plus" refers to the use of the slightly fancier lugs as per the Master series. In any case, that's my best guess (early-mid-90's Super or perhaps Super Piu) unless someone else nails it. Someone may be able to tell something from a serial number from that era, but not me.

Thanks for your help, the down tube is actually shaped, it has the square on the brake holder also, with the club symbol.

That's the kind of info I coulda used up-front. But if it's SL, I still think the Superissimo/Super variant guess may not be far off. I'll investigate some more. At this point, I'm honestly stumped, which happens easily with Colnagos post about 1983.

I didn't find out much more info on this frame, but thanks to everyone for the help, I listed it on ebay, I'm still amazed how light it is.
