Commuting - Hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring-ting-tingling too

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Another in my series of "thought I'd seen it all" posts... Today I saw a guy on a bike, not pedaling at all, being pulled by his two little dogs via a pair of leashes, as if the canines were sleigh dogs. Into a headwind, no less. Those little dogs looked like they had dialed it up to 400W, I tell you, and no doubt had guads (do dogs have guads?) of steel as it looked like a fairly well-practiced activity.

In other news, a good-hearted local hipster from Bed Stuy rescued my cell phone where apparently I had dropped it on the Williamsburg Bridge last night. If you never thought something like that could happen in NYC, you have us figured all wrong. :D

You think that's nuts - I saw somebody on a bike getting pulled by a team of four Huskies. This was in Kentucky, mind you. Don't know if somebody was training for the Iditerod or not, but this is not something you expect to see while idly gazing out the window.

At least he was pulled by genuine sled-dogs. The dogs I saw today were barely bigger than a "lap dog"!

That just means you need more of them than a regular sled team.

Standard sled teams are 4 to 8 large dogs. So if you've got daschunds, you need to harness up about 40 of the little buggers. :D

(I would buy tickets to see that sled race.)
