Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Fenix S.O.S.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What does S.O.S. mode mean? Does it flash in Morse code or something like that?

Yes, and the one drawback of the Fenix IMO is that it really does not have a good blinky mode. The SOS has big gaps in the flashing and the strobe mode would work good in a Disco or for Halloween but is way too fast for bike use.

Yes, the SOS flash apparently is set at the same frequency as morse code for emergencies. I agree sit stonecrd that the flash mode is the only serious drawback with the Fenix lights. There should be a better flash signal in the non-turbo mode. However, if I'm ever lost on a desert island, I hope that I have my Fenix light with me.

(sounds like the Fenix is flashing at 13-16 wpm?)
I use the strobe mode on my bike. Fenix P1D-CE (Q5 edition). 180 lumens in Strobe mode. It gets peoples attention pretty well. The tip is covered with the finger of a latex glove, so it's very visible from all directions without strobing right in anyone's eyes.

That looks like a FENIX wearing a condom.
Well, I'm not going to say how I got the inspiration for the idea...
