I saw a lemond sierra nevada for sale at a bike shop not to far from me It was the same price as the trek 1000. I think someone on this post said that trek made lemond bikes. Im assuming the difference is that the Lemond is steel. Let me know thanx:D

You are right. Trek makes Lemond bikes, and the Nevada City (it's not called the Sierra Nevada) is pretty much the same as the Trek 1000 except for the frame materials. You need to ride both and see what works better for you. I was making the same decision between the Trek 5200 and the Lemond Victoire. Both were pretty much identical except the Trek is a carbon frame and the Lemond is Titanium. The Trek fit me better.

Good luck

Do you mean Nevada City? I've heard the same thing. A lot of the Lemonds have Bontrager parts which are also associated with Trek. The two bikes are essentially the same except for the frame material. Between the two I'd go for the steel bike for ride comfort. Lemond is making some big changes in 04. They are apparently going to use a lot more aluminum and a lot less steel for their frames.

I have just bought a 2002 Nevada City and I love it. It has a triple on it and I know some people feel that this is overkill, but it has helped me out a couple of times on some VERY steep hills :D .
The shifters a Shimano Sora, which is the bottom line of their shifters but they havn't let me down yet (and I have shifted more time than I can remember :) ) It has a great ride and looks cool.
I tried the Trek and found the ride to hard but, just as everyone suggests, try them both to see what fits you best, the LeMond was my best fit and I'm as happy as a pig in sh*t
