None of the local bike shops here stock studded tires, so how can I determine whether I have clearance for a 35mm 700c Nokian W106? I think this is about as narrow as studded tires get - any other tire suggestions to look into?
I've attached a couple pics of my current clearance:

I would take your bike to the LBS you are going to buy the tire at, and ask. They wont mind taking a look.
I have a set of Nokian W106 35mm tires and they have a 30mm sidewall height (rim to top of tread). Maybe this can help you determine if they'd fit. I'd be concerned about being able to get them to fit between the pads on your caliper brakes, without having to deflate the tire or dismantle the brake. They barely squeeze through the cantilever brake pads on my cross bike. Also, you might want to take a look at at Peter White Cycles' site. They have some pretty helpful information for determining if studded tires will fit your bike.

Regards,
Thanks - I think a cross bike may be in my future, but I need to save money first! Would a regular city/touring 35mm tire have a similar profile to the W106? Hopefully one of the local shops will order a set of studs so I can try them.
Also, does anyone know if the A10 would take up any less space?
I run these tires on my CX bike and I must say, they are a generous 35c.

+1 - I have the W106 35mm on my cross check, I concur, they are pretty wide, and pretty tall. Just from the looks of it in the pictures, I'd guess that may not have enough room. But measure, and have your LBS help you. But also your brakes don't have a cable release and you might not be able to get them on and off very easily. That could present a fairly large problem if you had to fix a flat out on the road.
Good luck
