View Full Version : Stans/Goo & Tubies?

So I just got a pair of Grifo challenge glued up to a set of tubie wheels I bought on Fleabay. This setup will take almost 2lbs off my bike (yep, just wheels and tires, I'm psyched!), but now I'm thinking about adding a bit of sealant. I have stans and the injector, and I have one squeeze tube of 3 year old tufo sealant left over from my tubular-clincher adventure.

The tufo goo looks like it is still OK; When I was googling on the various gluing methods, I think I ran across some wives tale about "the ammonia in stans eating through the sidewalls"... So, should I goo, no goo, and which goo?

We have some thorny races, but now the snow has hit, I'm sure there are still a few out there somewhere...

I think stans and the tufo stuff are the same (or very similar). It worked in a vittoria that had a small puncture.

Hey HuckMeat can't help you with the sealant but are there any races in CO in late December? I'm going to Nationals in KC and then on to Denver/Boulder for Xmas. Just wondering if you know? Seems like most seasons end after Nat's.

None that I'm aware of yet, last one I know of is on Dec 9th.... Sometimes single races pop up at the last minute, I'd love to make the season a little longer myself! I'll pm you if I see anything coming up.

Either the Tufo or the Stans (basically the same stuff), will work fine. Another alternative is to ge the Vittoria Pitstop. Deflate the tire and refill/inflate with the pitstop.

BTW, good choice on the Grifo's they are a really nice tire.
