Commuting - I have 7 rear lights??????

Is this OCP or Fredism. I just can't stop buying rear lights. I have a Cateye TL SL100 on my helmet, on the rack I have a Cateye TL LD1000 and a pair of BLT Ultra Wazoo DX's and the seat post is covered in a Cateye TL AU100, a Blackburn Mars 3.0 and a Cygolite MityRad. I'm now thinking of adding a Busch & Muller Topfire and a Dinotte 140L.

I too, keep adding lights and reflectors. I'm looking for a "slow moving vehicle" reflective triangle.

Heh I normally run 6 (2x Dinotte 140L, 3x PB Superflash, 1x Viewpoint Flashpoint)...I've some others laying around that I could strap on, but they're just regular 5 LED blinkies and I don't think they'd add enough to be worth the extra hassle of turning off/on and worrying about more batteries. I think I've got you beat on total light output :)

I'm there for the rear with 7 lights and short of adding a dinotte, I don't think I can possibly increase my rearward visibility

I think ajs and I must have been typing at the same time (posts are only 3 minutes apart). ajs's post is probably referring to the op. It does look pretty funny right under my post though :)

I'm probably just too lazy to turn them all on, but seven lights seems like irrational fear to me.

If you are going to use that many lights, you might as well buy a DiNotte tail light. It would be lighter and less expensive to operate, and probably a lot brighter as well. That said, I use 3 tail lights commuting -- a PB Superflash on a seat stay, and less-bright flashers on my helmet and seatbag.

not necessarily. while the dinotte is the most powerful, I'd be willing to bet that you'd be more visibile to motorists with say 4 pb superflashes. It's not just about brightness. It's about forcing the eyes of the motorist to you as his brain tries to determine what you are and where you are/how far in front of him you are. In that respect, a medley of lights, I suspect is more successful than a single powerful light.
If I could have 4 dinottes over 4 pb superflashes that would be one thing but I don't feel like writing that letter to santa.

I've got 4... Cateye LD1000 on the seatpost, PB Superflash on the left seatstay, and a Cateye LD150 and PB Blinky 5 on my camelbak. However i usually only use the ones on the bike. The ones on the camelbak are backup or if it's really foggy.

I'm really thinking of getting another Superflash. I've still got room on the left seatstay for another one. :D (i can't fit any on the right seatstay unfortunately since the rear derailuer cable is in the way... it's a CX bike...)

Man, my wife was teasing me for being excessive this winter for the forward helmet light and second PBSF that I clip onto my coat. Will point her to this thread tonight for sure.

I have a Mars 3.0 on my helmet (Rear) one Mars 3.0 on the rear of the pannier on the non-drive side of the bike and a PB super flash attached to the rear rack. If some can't see that than my number was just up IMHO.

I'd agree; if I drove it at 12-14 mph for six miles on a 55mph road, like I do my bike on my commuting route. Especially at 5AM.

Meanwhile I guess I should be more concerned about deadly pebbles on the road IAW what our risk analyst comrade previously posted about where the real dangers lie and the insignificance of visibility to the rear for bicyclists.:rolleyes:

Yes PVC plumbing pipe. It is the high tech replacement for the broom handle I used before I invested in the latest thing.

I have four....but thinking about more as well as mine aren't nearly as bright as a Superflash, 1100, or Dinotte.
