Howdy all,
I'm thinking about purchasing a mtn bike soon for camping and deer hunting. Every year I push a cart up a closed NF road for 5-6 miles and make a camp. A friend suggested a mtn bike and a bike trailer might save us some time. Any ideas? Which forum?

Right now I'm thinking of a Trek 4300 pulling a Burley flatbed trailer. I'll strap on a Rubbermaid Roughneck container (the footlocker size one) for our gear which will weigh about 40lbs going in (up). Any suggestions would be appreciated. FWIW, I'm 41 and in decent shape, I treadmill 2-3 times a week and hit the weights also.

Thanks,
GreenHorn

Firstly go to the Mountain biking section and read some threads about choosing a bike, and getting the size etc correct (do a search) and get an idea of bikes you could choose from (never decide on ONE model without going out and test riding a few bikes in your $$$ range - NEVER) just make sure it has the eyelets above the rear axle, on the frame, for mounting panniers (also for attatching trailers :D) sort that out.

As to the trailer, read the post by mgagnonlv in my thread about bike trailers, as I am building one myself for road touring. Check out the links in the thread for trailers you can buy ready made.http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36441

Just take a general look around the bicycle mechanics, touring and mountain biking sections, and enjoy yourself, welcome to the forums.
