. . . I'm a bicycle commuter in a large Northeastern city. Nothing like this ever happens to me, but one day . . .

Garden-variety road-rage moment this morning: car cuts me off so he can get to the red light first. I holler, and then — I know, not wise — shoot a snot rocket on his hood. He roars the engine and lurches toward me. I pull away. And then: Woot! Woot! The unmistakable sound of a police siren. Great — I just hocked on an undercover cop. The car pulls up next to me, window down. I'm waiting to get a summons or arrested or worse (http://www.streetsblog.org/2007/11/27/nypd-continues-to-criminalize-bicycling-in-new-york-city/#comment-40818). And the guy . . . is apologizing?
I can't figure it out. Then I realize that the undercover is behind the guy, he saw the whole thing and took my side. And when the cop rolls past, he has a huge grin and gives me a big thumbs up!

Here in Seattle, you'd both get ticketed under the new road-rage laws.

And you didn't hock another one through the open window? :D

Wow! Frontier justice in the big city. There's hope for America, after all. Now, was this the hock and spit variety or the nostril direct Euro blast? Much more insulting and messy.:D

While I don't endorse the action, I do hope that it was the "coach's kleenex" (a.k.a. Air Hanky) variety.

+1 Yeah, one wouldn't want to give the impression to any of the newbies that this sort of retribution is condoned on BF-C, but I DO hope it at least landed partly on the driver's side windshield...

Why does this NEVER happen to me? Same city, no less. Today, at a red light, the car service taxi at the front of the line inched, inched and inched forward until finally brazenly running the light. I looked back the *traffic cop* car in second position and cried out, madly gesticulating, "Can I do that too?!?". Of course I did -- I only fully stop at that light if there's traffic coming through (rare) or if, ahem, a cop is nearby.

Geez, and here I thought I was going to read about your encounter with a carful of naked co-eds... ;)

Was this just as satisfying for you? :D

Yes, it was good for me too. Couldn't believe my luck. And yes, it was a "farmer's blow" (coach's Kleenex, etc.). A light misting.

Good for you, but I was really hoping to hear about some gratuitous sexuality...

By Richard Alleyne

A man has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after being caught trying to have sex with a bicycle.

Let's hope it was fixed.

If I shot a snot rocket up here I would have dented his hood (snot freezes fast at these temps)...regardless a great story, one I will contemplate while I ride.

I've got this hilarious vision of someone blowing a big frozen snot javelin that flats out a car tire.

Hee hee.

Well that was a clever yet embarassing typo!

No point in going back to fix it now! ;)
