I rekon I could troll Ice Bike but thought I'd poll in here first.

I'm pretty good with my winter rig so far (considering we have had some mornings/evenings where the tem is in the low teens with brisk winds.

Layering seems to be working for me. I have a Cannondale outer jacket with some light lining, pit zips, velcro, etc. Except that the color is gray/black (got it on sale). REI has a nice outlet sale right now, so I'm looking at some more hi-vis jackets... and wonder if I should just stick with the wind jacket with multiple layers. They have a nice hi-vis wind jacket:

plus a couple Marmot jackets in orange that are Pre-Cip... insulated, rain jackets... more $ and more whistles and bells..

I'm wondering if I should keep it simple (windbreaker, layers) or leap ahead with an insulated rig.

Just looking for what other's think

A Hard shell, or wind jackets that are cut and colored for cycling worn with layers depending on temp are the way to go in the winter. I think that one looks totally good at REI.

I have a Marmot Pre Cip Jacket, I never wear it for cycling. It's too short in the back and arms, has no reflective bits. What it is is a really good summer rain jacket, But it's not a good cycling jacket.
