"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Nothing better to discuss, renewed

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Renewed today... how 'bout you?

Racing tomorrow (on the 2nd), lotsa-corners-crit and 2.4km TT again. 3 min 20 seconds of suffering, hoping to set new MMP for 3 min 20 sec. Felt pretty good on my pre-race day workout. Feel bad for the folks showing up to lose.

You're racing and I just finished my 2nd week of '2008 training'. :p

I haven't decided what my first race of 2008 will be. I may or may not do Mentor depending on the weather and fitness. http://www.godzulla.com/mentor/ Mid February.

Other than Mentor and Schaboble, I don't know. I also still don't know if OVR will have the spring series or if individual teams will have to pick up the slack.

We're looking to move in January if the house sells (not on the market yet).

OVR is pretty much decided that it will be taken by the teams.

First Greenville race is in freaking FEB.

Oh, and I'm getting ready to upgrade in cross after then next race. I'll renew after that.

That does not sound like fun. I'll probably be doing the QCW tt series in 2008. Fred apparently is having his tt series again as well. Once I move, I doubt I'll drive to Greenville for a chip seal time trial.

Anywho, I'll renew my license oh, in about a month.

cat4ever, some of the lexington guys have a list of every race within 3 or 4 hours, if i can dig it up, ill send it over.

edit: here it is http://cvrowe.googlepages.com/home

so you are moving to cincy?

oh, and i plan to not renew, but establish today! my first uscf might actually be mentor(if its even uscf), much of rt 8 just was repaved from what i understand at least the part near cincy was when i rode it over thanksgiving. ill get shelled though, im not ready to race 70... maysville is sort of a neat town i guess, a little reneck, but quaint... i fish near there when i am visiting family.

Thanks for the link. Yeah, I'm moving to Cincinnati early in 2008.

Mentor is not under USCF - it's under ABR's rule. At least it was last year. The race last year was also shortened to ~50 miles for the combined 1/2/3 race because it was 20 degrees out. My bottles froze solid at mile 5.

Nice, any idea on how many people will actually show? If it's a good forecast I'll show.
The Mentor race sounds fun, too. We're talking about Mentor, Ohio. Right?

no, mentor kentucky.

where abouts you moving in cincy? im actually from northern kentucky, on the bank of the river a little west of downtown. if you need any advice etc, about the area, let me know!

im pretty much cat 5 material right now, havnt had many real road races under my belt, just informal or underground ones. from the looks of the website, i thought mentor-maysville was all the same distance, just staggered?

The Cat5 race is 40, and if the weather is like last year, the upper cats will be shortened.

I'll end up just north of 275 (the northern part of the loop) by the looks of it.

I will need advice on where to ride (where NOT to ride), etc.

look up the loveland bike trail for leisurely/recovery rides, route 8 in kentucky, river road in ohio, and try http://www.cincinnaticycleclub.org/ i havnt ridden a whole lot up there really (so i cant give TONS of ride advice), ive lived in lexington for 4 years now, but still frequent there because my family is all up there, and im a diehard bengals and reds fan.

if you ever need bars or restaurant reccomendations let me know

Heh. I used to live across the river in Indiana, didn't ride when I lived there but noticed that a couple of the CCC rides trod across the ol' stomping grounds. The area around Perfect North Slopes is nice and hilly. Not too far from 275 either.

Give Pete, Todd and Rich Mc a call. That's where they are riding.
