Are you sure it's a conversion? From what's showing, it looks like a Madison. The Madison is a track bike with flip-flop rear hub (and brakes).

I'm not sure about the bike, but is that one of Santa's elves working on it?:D

That's not a 'conversion', it's what we old codgers call a 'track bike'.
edit: I guess 'conversion' means removing the brakes. Must be a generational thing...

Ahh, I was gonna say.
The decals screamed C&V but I saw the track ends and thought "I dont remember Schwinn ever making a track frame way back when...
It's modeled after the Madison of the 80s, a lower-end alternative to the Paramount track, which has been around since at least the 30s.

I wouldn't call the new Madison a track bike. It's more like a road bike that resembles a track bike in some ways.

What puzzles me is that Schwinn picked the most unattractive(IMO) decal design from days gone by. The late eighties would have looked better, or even late seventies. All I can think of when I see that bike is
the 84-85 Schwinn Sprint I had a couple of years ago.,,,,BD

Are you kidding? The new downtube Schwinn logo screams (as another forum member put it well) "Life After Disco." Honestly, it resembles stylized industrial stencils. Unfortunately, Schwinn never did make a better '70s-era scheme other then the Paramount DT lettering variant. The '60s noodle scheme is great, except for the fact that they wouldn't fit the look of either of these bikes.
Speaking of schemes from the era, Dave Moulton's takes the prize, IMHO. Never seen a D/T logo I like better either.
Incidentally, if Schwinn really wanted to get into that faux era look for all those fixie riders wallowing in an era that they never lived in, but embrace anyway (heck, I'm caught in it as well, and have no desire to get out), how about some matching light blue bar tape?

I was thinking an aero spoke and chopping the bars..... ah never mind.
I just picked up a 2007 Schwinn Madison and, well, it's a blast. On my medium/54cm frame, the angles are twitchy, responsive, and fun (S-74.5, H-74.5). I have been riding it singlespeed on my suburban road bike routes and it has added a whole new dimension to the workout. The 2008 paint is nice, but Schwinn has tamed down the angles for that model.
