Snow started rolling in about 1 hour ago. :( Need to dig the snow blower out of the shed.

Need to dig the snow blower out of the shed.
Did that at 9:00 AM today. Mixed up some 50:1 gas and fired it up. Let it warm up, then shut it off and went inside, just as the first flakes started to fall.

Now it's a freakin' ugly mess out there. We even had a plane skid off the runway here (nobody hurt).

It's a Netflix evening, for sure.

Traffic this afternoon was MUCH better than the first snow last year. I didn't see any stuck or bent cars today although I'm sure they were out there somewhere.

The Blizzaks are working well. This will be my first winter with ABS, not noticing any great improvements in stopping, but I did slam 'em on a few times to see if they work. BZZZZZZZZZZZ. :p

May not be enough to ski on, pretty borderline (gotta work tonight anyway though).

Gotta see if the Wisconsin State Cyclocross Champs are still on for tomorrow in Hales Corners. I've got my camera batteries all charged up. If it's a go ... it should be GREAT !! :)

Edit: It sure was weird hearing the wild sparrows signing inside the Farm @ Fleet store today. I mean there are always a few birds in there (I'm sure they've found where the bird food is kept), but to hear them happily singing on a snowy day was just weird).

Here in the Dallas, TX, area, it's been coolish but was pretty pleasant temperature today. I just got back from a 14 mile ride in shorts and long-sleeve tee shirt and I'm all sweaty. :)

It's a crappy mix right now. It went from snowing to sleeting bad enough that there was a nice thick coating of ice on evrything. Now it's raining. Ahhhh.....winter.

Snow is NUMBER 1!

Started snowing this morning around 9:30 & just kept going as I worked outside cleaning up & putting away all the last minute summer stuff for the winter. Already had the snowblower out and running a couple of weeks ago. Around noon, before going in for the day I took my son's bike for a ride, He got a Schwinn Stingray with the springer front end from Wally-world last week. Brought back alot of childhood memories cruising down the road, King of the road on a Stingray. Although it was snowing like hell & all the neighbors that saw me thought I was a little touched. Come to think of it, all the neighbors already think I'm a little touched!! Keeps them all at a distance that way, friendly but at a healthy distance!
Looking forward to my new Jersey, going to wrap it up & have Santa put it under the tree, Thanks Rob for all your hard work on the Jersey project.
Be well all.

Oh yeah... it's a mess...and on the day that Mrs. Hip decides to be in Chicago to shop on a bus trip too.

I refuse to bring the bike in yet. This will all melt and I think there will be some sunshine and above freezing temp days yet in Dec. when I can get this PR for miles yet before the year is over. All I need is 31 miles...must do it now!

Last year it snowed 11 inches Dec/ first here...but later in Dec. I still got five rides in outside. I'm hoping for the same this year, although it won't be next week.....highs only in the 20's with more snow...

Yeah, it always seems to be that there is about a week early in December that is wicked cold, but then it usually warms up. I'm looking forward to getting out again this year still.

There's going to be no off-season for me this year. One of the perks of getting into CX, is that I now have a fantastic all-season bike to ride in the winter. I've got me clothing choices tweaked to the point where I'm still comfortable in single-digits.

I'm sure the paths will be cleared in the next week, and I'll be back to the 100 mile weeks that was logging in November.

I was riding around on the fixie while it was all freezing rain and snow. Once the ice started to cover everything the tires would not cut through anymore so I had to walk the rest of the way home.... :(
